can you tell me who bred the first BORDER COLLIES? I read somewhere that it was Old Hemp but that sounds weird. I know they were bred in the late 1800's early 1900's for sheep herding in England and Scotland, but I need to know this! 10 points who can tell me the right answer-preferably a link!

one interesting thing about the border collies is that you can have 12 of them in a line together, and none of them look much alike. The border collie is the only dog breed that can be a purebred, but look completely different from other purebred border collies. They won't even all be black and white!

Look on google pics and you'll see what I mean. It's so wierd!

Greta's link is awesome! have you tried Wikipedia? Not only does this link give info, but it links to other pages too, and mentions Border Collies of note.
