Mental illness happens just like physical illness. Why does God allow either to happen?

I don't know, but you and she are in my prayers.

Obviously she had a mental breakdown, if you are her friend you need to still be her friend, she needs prayers and lots of them. Request Prayer for her at Church, It has nothing to do with God being cruel, he is not and you know that, God is Love, Jesus his died for our sins on the cross, your friend is sick, most of the time when we get ill we don't think about it being a mental thing but there all kinds of illnesses associated with the brain, just be her friend like you have been, and let God make things right, something good can come from something bad if we let it. Life is full of suprises, live each day trusting in Jesus, Remember the 23 Psalms.

God isn't cruel. You friend obviously has a mental disorder - so does my wife - and if you really care about your friend, and I know you do, you are about to go on a heartbreaking, but rewarding journey that will open your heart and mind to understanding things you can not now begin to perceive regarding mental health. God promised His own that He would not give us a burden too heavy to carry, but He didn't say it would be without sorrow and pain. Hopefully, she will seek proper mental help as there are now numerous medications available to stabilize her. Your friend needs your understanding and your support. I mentioned my wife. She had a similar episode a number of years ago and has been on medication, and stable, ever since. She never ceases to amaze me with all that she has had to overcome in her life and as a result I see God far more clearly now than I ever did before. I am not a mental health professional, but if I can be of any help, please message me. May God bless your friend and you.

Sweetie this is not an act of God. It's the act of a human being who has distorted the truth in her own mind. Even though she said that Jesus is the air she breathes you have to realize that the bible tells you to beware false prophets. Everyone proclaiming to do the work of God is not necessarily doing so.

The fact that your friend decided to breech social mores by trying to kill her companions is not a choice by God. His choice was to give humans free will. She decided to use this privilege for hurtful means. Does she sound sane? From my perspective of what you wrote, she sounds mentally ill. Mental illness can be caused by a variety of factors of which all is tied to the disturbance of goodness, harmony, and well-being. It is easy to shift the blame on God; however, we musn't forget what role we play in our own actions. Blessed be.

Don't you think that an attack had happened, not only on those people but saying she would attack all of England, we would have heard about it on the news by now?

Okay so now that is out of the way. God isn't cruel PEOPLE are cruel. She obviously didn't have Jesus in her life because if she did, she would have never have done this at all.

Sorry about your friend losing it .As an atheist I find appalling that only one theist who has so far answered your question -Jon M -has expressed any kind of sympathy at all towards yourself or your friend.
Judging by the cruelty of his believers in not acknowledging either your pain or you friend's pain I think that your point is valid.

First it doesn't sound like you have all of the story. second if you do have it correctly it is called brain chemistry. Imbalances can make people do unusual things. It sounds like you are a little too eager to judge people of God. Careful who you judge... it may not just be a Christian judging you next time.

Why do you hold GOD responsible for a crime that he didn't comitted. ? It is not HIS fault that she went crazy. Maybe it was the devil that took control of her mind, maybe she just had severe mental disorders. But it is not good to hold God responsible for this. It is not his fault, even if is very hard to understand.
GOD IS GOD, and that's it. We cannot blame God for any of our illnesses. It's the way it works, I don't know way. It just is.

Please do your self a favor and disregard Kayne's answer about "true Christianity" (Hello Pot, this is the Kettle, You are black). True Christianity has more to do with compassion for the sick then this kind of nonsensical judgment.

I can only say that your friend needs you now more than ever. Be there for her.

kay, first of all. its sad about your friend. im sorry, maybe try to get her to a good phsycologist. second of all, God is never cruel. we are his childeren and he only wants to do whats best for us. thats hard for us to understand, considering were only human, but thats where faith comes in. we have to trust and believe that God knows what hes doing becaue he is our Creator and he loves us very much!

my grandpop was diagnosed with cancer and passed away in only 3 weeks total. God works in mysterious ways, something good comes from EVERYTHING bad. God promises us that in the Bible.
