Why did Martin Luther of the Protestant Reformation HATE Jews with such a passion ?

Jesus did not call them Abraham's children, but a "brood of vipers" [Matt. 3:7]. Oh, that was too insulting for the noble blood and race of Israel, and they declared, "He has a demon' [Matt 11:18]. Our Lord also calls them a "brood of vipers"; furthermore in John 8 [:39,44] he states: "If you were Abraham's children ye would do what Abraham did.... You are of your father the devil. It was intolerable to them to hear that they were not Abraham's but the devil's children, nor can they bear to hear this today.------Martin Luther

Learn from this, dear Christian, what you are doing if you permit the blind Jews to mislead you. Then the saying will truly apply, "When a blind man leads a blind man, both will fall into the pit" [cf. Luke 6:39]. You cannot learn anything from them except how to misunderstand the divine commandments...------Martin Luther

St. John Chrysostom: “I know that many people hold a high regard for the Jews and consider their way of life worthy of respect at the present time... This is why I am hurrying to pull up this fatal notion by the roots ... A place where a whore stands on display is a whorehouse. What is more, the synagogue is not only a whorehouse and a theater; it is also a den of thieves and a haunt of wild animals ... not the cave of a wild animal merely, but of an unclean wild animal ... When animals are unfit for work, they are marked for slaughter, and this is the very thing which the Jews have experienced. By making themselves unfit for work, they have become ready for slaughter. This is why Christ said: “as for my enemies, who did not want me to reign over them, bring them and slay them before me’ (Luke 19.27).”

They all came along with their "new faith" and tried to sell it to the Jews. They said nice things about the Jews in an attempt to make the sale. But when the Jews would not buy, all three turned on the Jews and started saying evil about them.

If you think a woman scorned has a fury, just refuse a fanatics new religion and see what happens.

Have you read about....... "On the Jews and their Lies", a 65,000-word treatise written by the German monk and church reformer Martin Luther in 1543, three years before his death.

Luther writes that the Jews are a "base, whoring people, that is, no people of God, and their boast of lineage, circumcision, and law must be accounted as filth." They are full of the "devil's feces ... which they wallow in like swine," and the synagogue is an "incorrigible whore and an evil **** ..." He argues that their synagogues and schools should be set on fire, their prayer books destroyed, rabbis forbidden to preach, homes razed, and property and money confiscated. They should be shown no mercy or kindness, afforded no legal protection, and these "poisonous envenomed worms" should be drafted into forced labor or expelled for all time. He also seems to advocate their murder, writing "[w]e are at fault in not slaying them."

In the 16th c., Luther, reacting to serious abuses and clerical corruption in the Latin Church, to his own heretical theological vision , and, frankly, to his own inner demons, removed those books from the canon that lent support to orthodox doctrine, relegating them to an appendix. Removed in this way were books that supported such things as prayers for the dead (Tobit 12:12; 2 Maccabees 12:39-45), Purgatory (Wisdom 3:1-7), intercession of dead saints (2 Maccabees 15:14), and intercession of angels as intermediaries (Tobit 12:12-15).
Ultimately, the "Reformers" decided to ignore the canon determined by the Christian Councils of Hippo and Carthage.

At first, Luther thought he could convert Jews to Christianity and it was on the corruption of the Catholic church that kept Jews from converting. When Jews did not flock to Luther, he turned on the Jews and wrote against them.
Every leader needs a scapegoat and the Jews were ready made for him.
Luther may be seen as a wonderful man in most Christian sects but to Judaism he was a very evil man.

Hmm, God decided that Peter and the Apostles and all who have suceeded them were wrong, which means that the Gospels were also wrong so He chose a bigoted meglomanic instead to start the true church, make any sense?

He didn't hate Jews at first. Originally, he thought that since he had "the truth" that all he had to do was to be nice to the Jews and they would convert en masse. When that didn't happen, he turned on us. He hasn't been the only Christian leader to follow this pattern.
