I would find another job. You don't need him ruining your reputation along with his. In business integrity is everything. That is what keeps the revenue flowing.

Samantha,

It's a sad fact that sometimes employees are smarter than the boss. It may surprise you to know this happens a great deal!

Bottom line: You can't tell the man how to run his business.

You can offer suggestions, and I would suggest drafting up a formal plan which shows areas of improvement. You can justify this as a 'quality check' to show him you take his business seriously and point out several areas of the business which could use improvement. If these are directly related to his own actions, word it carefully. Rather than say 'You need to stop butting into the way other departments perform their jobs', you can say 'Need to establish clear cut and WRITTEN performance expectations', so that everyone's expectations are in writing and he doesn't need to micro-manage.

If this isn't possible, or you don't feel he'll be receptive, then you have two choices: either sweat it out and keep shouldering the responsibilities for him...or get on hotjobs and start looking for another one!

Maybe when you're gone, he'll realize his own mistakes and will start to improve. If not, his business will collapse under his own management, and you'll be sitting pretty in your new job while he is picking up the pieces.

don't do anything. I had a boss like that and eventually he started pocketting my eovertime. Then i reported him for stealing from me,. I got fired but it was good to see his nuts being held to the fire by the labour standards officers.

each boss has somebody above them that they might desire to communicate to. you stumble in this person who he has to reply to to and relieve your self of the information to him, so he can replace you with a clean supervisor. Or if its his own corporation, start up finding for yet another activity.

Update your resume and start looking for another job.

If you boss wants to ruin his business, let him. No sense making yourself crazy over it.

Well, if you really can't take it, start looking for work elsewhere.
It sounds like your boss is not particularly approachable, and is not likely to change.
