I like the Idea. They could make it a 3 mile track and put a bridge (overpass) in the center of it. Wouldn't quiet be a road course but it would require a different setup than the ovals. You could put the pits on the outside of one corner and have plenty of pit room to make pit areas safer. They need to try it.

Left turn - right turn - and so on.

And if they really wanted to get creative they could make one loop smaller than the other which would allow slower speeds in one loop and greater speeds in the other loop. When going from the small loop to the big loop it would be a drag race.

And when going from the big loop to the small loop you would more than likely burn your brakes up trying to slow down making it even more challenging.

I like it.

WOW OMG I thought of this VERY SAME QUESTION today! I was wondering why they never built a figure 8 track with a bridge overpass for Nascar.

I think that would be a very exciting new track for Nascar!

VVVV
what is the guy below talking about?? isn't Nascar going to make all drivers use the "Car of Tomorrow"? how the heck does a car's manufacturer have an advantage with a bridge overpass? in my opinion, Nascar wants different configurations and challenges for the pit crews.

Go to Indianapolis Speedrome website I used to run the figure 8 their. I doubt any Nascar drivers would have the kahonies to drive in a Demolition Derby much less a figure 8. I was a lot younger then and a whole whole lot Dumber then when I drove it on Friday and Saturday nights back in the 80s-90s.

It depends on how high the bridge would have to rise to go over the intesection of the "8" If the car goes over the bridge too fast it might get "light" I think that Toyota would dominate. Maybe they shouldn't add the 8-track. Sales of GM Ford and Chrysler might suffer. I don't like it.

I don't know I have never thought of it. Almost like a road course maybe? But how fast can they go on that style of a track? Cool idea though!
