There is more than one type of cancer found in the breast.

The more common forms of breast cancer are rarely painful in the early stages.

Some rare forms can be painful in early stages, some unusual cases of the more common ones can be painful in early stages. In later stages, pain at the site is more common.

Pain does not mean that it is NOT cancer, just less likely to be early stages of breast cancer.

I had an unusual cancer located in my breast, which grew rapidly and was tender, everyone was sure it was a cyst because of this, including my Dr. We did testing to be sure, it was cancer.

In many cases, there is no pain from a malignant tumor in the breast, but sometimes there is. Post surgery there can be tenderness or twinges for a long time afterwards at the site of the scar(s). I am 3+ years post partial mastectomy and still have some discomfort, but am cancer free.
