Is it normal to have a certain brand of dog food make your pup fart a lot? I was feeding my pup Nutro but now I slowly switched it to Iams. she never used to fart before (At least from what I noticed) but now she farts, and it smells sooo bad. This happened to our other dog too. Is it normal for this to happen? Or do the dog fats smell bad with certain brands of dog food?

Oh she has never eaten table scraps. I try to get her better dog foods but I live in a small town and the nearest pet store is like 1 1/2 hrs away!

I have had the same problem. I have 2 bulldogs that ate IAMS and I started to realize it wasnt the greatest food for them. Not to mention my male was farting so bad that it was unbearable to be in the same house as him. A friend suggested I try switching to Nutro, so I did and the gas and all my other problems went away. Maybe you should go back to Nutro.

A human fart my little chinese crested sleeps under the covers or rather used to, my hubby farted so bad that the poor dog vomited everywhere all over me himself hubby and the bed. Hes never slept under the covers since! BTW Hubby was made to change the bed whilst i showered and yes its funny looking back. As for gas green beans mixed with his normal food can help.

Changing dog food is upsetting to their system.

I know from past experience, Iams causes a lot of gas.

Dogs just have to get used to the change in the new food and some dogs do that by farting!

Yes, certain foods can cause dogs to have flatulence. Try switching brands. Not to sound harsh, but cheaper foods tend to be the worst.
