You can get a large Italian antipasto tray that has all kinds of goodies on it -- cheeses, salamis, olives, pickles, etc. etc.
I like to put a generous portion of cream cheese on a ritz cracker and top that with a sun dried tomato in oil and sprinkle salt and pepper on that.
Make little open faced sandwiches with those 2 or 3 inch square little cocktail rye breads. Cream cheese is usually a pretty good base since you can press things on to them so they don't easily fall off. Sliced cucumbers, a bit of smoked turkey or ham, what ever you can think of.
You can toast mini-bagels and do the lox and cream cheese thing with capers and red onions.
I even made mini-reubens with them--some thinly sliced corned beef, a dollop of saurkraut and thousand island dressing, swiss cheese to cover, toast them in the oven til the cheese melts.

A veggie tray would be great and here's a dip recipe to go along with them. A cheese and cracker platter is also always a hit.
Cheesy Spinach and Artichoke Dip
1 can (14 oz.) artichoke hearts, drained, finely chopped
1 pkg. (10 oz.) frozen chopped spinach, thawed, drained
3/4 cup grated Parmesan Cheese
3/4 cup mayonnaise
1/2 cup shredded Mozzarella Cheese
1/2 tsp. garlic powder
PREHEAT oven to 350°F. Mix all ingredients until well blended.
SPOON into 9-inch pie plate or quiche dish.
BAKE 20 min. or until heated through. Serve with crackers and assorted cut-up fresh vegetables.

I think little sandwiches are always good. It's a little more filling than just fruits and veggies. I just went to a baby shower and the hostess bought a tub of chicken salad from Costco and just scooped it onto mini croissants - they were delicious. Other good things would be a shrimp platter with cocktail sauce and cheese and crackers.

veggie plate
fruit plate
cheese square plate with crackers (easy to make because everything comes already cut)
devilled eggs
little smokies
dip and chips (salsa and tortia works great)
dollar roll sandwiches you can get from wal-mart are easy, pretty and cheap
cake
However, a typical shower that I have been to lately has the following (they concentrate on the games instead and schedule it during a time where no one would really be hungry):
Punch

butter mints
cake

Ham/Turkey roll up:
•Turkey/Ham slices
•Pickles
•Cream cheese
Take the cream cheese and spread on turkey or ham, whichever you prefer. Next, put the pickle on the inside of the cream cheese roll, and roll up. Cut into bite size pieces. Very easy to make, and very delicious. I ate them at my friend's baby shower once, and they are perfect for the occasion!

Put Little Smokies in BBQ sauce in a crock pot, everyone loves those. Deviled eggs are always popular. Chips and Salsa.
