Thats a really weird question. First of all I'm not athiest but at one time I was and athiest don't believe in a Heaven, they don't believe any anything after life or any type of higher power to answer to. They believe when you die you lose conciousness there is no more awareness your body and mind is dead there is no soul to continue on afterwards. They don't fantasize about heaven.
Now an agnostic will believe that there is the potential for a higher power and an afterlife conciousness, although they do not commit to a religion they study and learn all they can about different religions and many other things and draw their own conclusions from what they learn.

Humans invented an imaginary place that embodies all the things that make them happy. It also eliminates the fears and sadnesses that we experience in life. These are real feelings that everyone has, and the idea of a happy care-free life pervades religions throughout history. It's a very human need. I WOULD like to create a benevolent, omnipresent, infinite consciousness to unite all the consciousnesses that have ever developed in the universe. I think it's possible that humans could be part of that eventually coming true.

God doesn't fit that bill, though, since he's the most evil fictional character humans have ever devised.

Who wouldn't "like the idea of living eternally in heaven"?

I like the idea of a fat, jolly man who lives at the North Pole climbing down the chimney at night once a year and leaving a bunch of new stuff just for me, too. The reality is, Santa Claus doesn't exist. And Xtianity is merely a variation on the theme of reincarnation. When you die, the only "eternal life" awaiting you is that your atoms will eventually be recycled to make other living things. Perhaps you will be a toad, if there are any still around in about 500 years.

If I do not believe in god then why would I like the idea of eternally in heaven?

Uhh... well I don't believe in souls so the question seems a bit silly.

Its strange that atheists have to defend themselves saying they 'dont believe' in things - an atheist isn't someone with a belief - its someone with the clarity of thought to lack a certain belief.

Living forever? Technology and science might do that for us, god wont because he aint real.

Maybe an 'omega point' heaven simulation of the kind espoused by David Deutsch? No, I'd rather just die. Imagine all those religious folks in heaven - full of ignorant people? No thanks.

Yes, it sounds like an attractive idea. Of course, so does winning the lottery on a single ticket. I still don't buy them every day.

Actually, come to think of it, I'd most likely get bored after a while. I'd want something that would keep me busy. I kind of prefer something like "Logopolis" from the Dr. Who series. Though I guess if it was truly "heaven", there would be ways of getting what I actually wanted like that.

No, have you ever talked to someone who is very old, but still reasonably sane and sharp? Go try talking to people in elderly homes. Many of them seriously do not want to live anymore, even when they are pretty healthy, they have just experienced everything they wanted to in their life. A single life can get tedious at times, eternal life would be unbearable.

Of course, living eternally in paradise would be great. Similarly, I would love for Jessica Alba to show up at my door dragging a bag filled with $100 bills..

But being nice and something we wish for doesn't mean it's real or ever going to happen.

No. It sounds unbelievably tedious. I cannot imagine the attraction. If you ask a believer why they want to go there, they're invariably vague and can't even tell you what it is you'll do for all eternity.

I'm happy with the life I've got. It's real and it's for certain. Wishing I could float around forever wouldn't make it so even if I wanted to. Which I don't.

If that's all the information I have, I can't really answer the question. I mean, if the assumption is that eternity in heaven is necessarily wonderful, there really isn't any other reasonable answer but, yes.

It's, for all intents and purposes, a tautological question.
