Sure - but very expensive (made in the USA). If you're just starting you might want to look at Epiphone guitars - also owned by Gibson but made overseas so much cheaper. Look around at www.musiciansfriend.com.

Among my collection of guitars, I have an LG-3 Gibson acoustic and a J45/50 Gibson acoustic. I learned to play on the LG-3 in 1956 and the J45-50 stayed with me during my professional years.

Gibson guitars rank among the top with Martin and Taylor. When I first began to play, the top guitars on the market were only Gibson and Martin. There are now many other brands that compete well, but the name brands remain strong.

Well, Mike G is right, some people will say that the ones made in Michigan are better than the ones made in Nashville, and I'm one of those people. That being said, the new ones coming out of there are well made. I think GIbsons are overpriced now, but they are well made. Gibson and Epiphone never merged though, Epiphone went out of business in the early 60s and Gibson bought them out and continued the line. Epiphones were made at the Gibson factory for ten years, and then production was moved to Japan in the early 70s. Epiphones are decent Japanese guitars, no better or worse than many other brands.

Yes Gibson makes some of the best Guitars in the world, and since the merger of Epiphone and Gibson you can own one for a reasonable price for a beginner, if you have a craigslist.org for your area/city, you can find a hell of a deal on a guitar and if you have pawn shops in your area you will find deals there too.Good Luck and only one thing to remember and thats practice, practice, and more practice.

totally. Gibsons are amazing guitars. Get an SG or a Les Paul, because those are the only ones worth looking at. but yeah, awesome brand of guitar. go to music123.com or guitarcenter.com and pick one out.

Yes. Some purists will say, "Oh, the ones made today in Nashville suck, and the old ones made in the Michigan plant are awesome", but they're all very well-made. Expensive, but well-made.

A Les-Paul Standard is THE rock guitar to own, and has been for decades. The downside - got $2,000 laying around?

Yes....it is....and one of the most respected guitar makers in the world. I have one from the late thirty's.....one of those great big ones....with the F holes in the body.....my father played it in the jazz clubs in Philly in the forties and fifty's !!!!!!!!!! I play classical guitar so I haven't played this for a long time.....it sits under my bed in the case and collects dust....what a shame.....I should have it redone.....I've just been lazy !!!!!!!!
