They can only suggest that you give them money towards this trip not demand. If you can't afford to give, then don't. A card should suffice. That is the trouble with today's weddings the Wedding Couple expect huge gifts, expensive honeymoons, and a big "do" all paid for by everyone attending the wedding. If they want to go to South Africa then they should have saved up to go or not be so lavish with the wedding party. Don't feel bad they shouldn't put guests or family in this position. Why should you break your bank and be broke. Hope this helps.

Give what you can afford and if this is a very small amount i would buy a small present instead. Personally i would much rather a token from the heart. Asking for money for a trip is just asking too much. People should be married because they love each other not for what they can get. I'm sure your brother knows your situation and should be more than happy with just your presence at his wedding and if not... save your money and dont buy him anything! all the best.

Easy what you can without getting into dept but do it in a clever way. Like buy a picture frame and put a 50 in the picture part. Or take them to eat and tell them that your tight on money. I'm a student so I know what your going through but if I were getting married I would complain about what ever you could afford. Relax there the ones that are getting married but to answer your question i guess 50.

find out what travel agent they will book the trip with and get them travel vouchers they start from ten pounds and remember its the thought that counts not the amount you spend they should be grateful for what you have got them as every penny counts towards the trip hope you have a good day at your brothers wedding

Give what you think in your heart feels right. It's not the amount that count, but the thought behind it.
They must watch out for the crime in South Africa as we have a lot of it here. No kidding.
Hope they live happilly ever after and name their first boy after you.

Just give them what you can afford, just cos they want a trip to Africa it doesn't mean you have to pay for all of it. I'm sure your brother will understand you circumstances.

I want a tummy tuck, but would never dream of asking friends and family to help fund it.
If your a bit short on £'s buy them a personal gift and simply explain that your not that flush, dont feel bad, in the good old fashioned days people didn't tell you what they wanted as gifts, they were simply happy and grateful for what they did receive!

I'm going to my sisters wedding on Friday and i don't have much spare cash. She asked for money from everyone to enable her to get a honeymoon! I gave her £30! That's all i could afford!

My outlook on this is this.... You are one person, and they should except whatever you can afford to give them. It's not like they are asking you to fork out the whole lump some. Just be as generous as you can, and wish them well on their trip with a nice card attached to it.
