• Gathering the right tools
• Getting the right materials: thin-set, tile, grout
• Getting the base for the tile in good condition
• Laying out the tile, planning the installation
• Setting the tile using thin-set
• Cutting tile with cutter board, saw and nippers
• Grouting

Here's a site that has explains the whole process through videos: http://starturl.com/tilesmadeeasy

The key to how to lay ceramic tile is preparation and having the right tools. Look for fast-setting thinset mortars specified for the subflooring used (concrete, stone or wood). Consider waterproofing and crack prevention membranes and primers where moisture is a concern. - See more at: http://www.miconstruguia.com/en/how-to-lay-ceramic-tile/

start with a clean, level surface. measure out from the wall to establish the start pint for your pattern; you want as many whole tiles in the center of the floor as possible for it to look right. from the wall to the edge of your first tile, measure back to the wall and calculate how many tiles it will take to fill that gap; remember to account for space the grout takes up. repeat this for all walls to center of room. mark the location of your first and second row of tiles spread out tile mastic (tile glue basically) to cover at least 4 tiles in each row and start laying them out. As you get the hang of things, you will be able to set out more mastic, but make sure it is still wet when you set the tile in it. Use spacers between tiles to maintain a consistent grout line.
Allow the tiles and mastic to set for 24 hours (unless your mastic product suggests a different time due to your geographical area), then apply the grout. once the entire floor has grout, clean off the access with a damp rag or sponge. if you are tiling a big floor (more then 1000sq. feet) you may want to clean off the access grout half way through).
