What does it mean when I cat comes to you when you are not paying attention and rubs its nose on your hand or toe? Does it mean that it loves you?
Sometimes I will be sitting on the chair at my desk looking at the computer doing homework and my cat Sage will come up quietly and rub his nose on my toe. And then he will look at me and start purring. What does this mean?? (BTW, I love my cat. He is so precious)

It means (from question I asked to Vets and cat owners)that your cat loves you, and is marking you with the rubbing. They have scent glands near there and use them for tagging their territories or loved ones. Also, I found with my cats it means,"lets do this together". The computer is a problem sometimes, because the two of mine jump up, pretend bite my mouse hand, jump on the monitor, etc. Sage sounds like his namesake. Ours are Minnie Mouse and Moon. Moon is deaf and an abandoned child so to speak., he greets me with nudges, purrs, or if I am accross the room he gives a nod of the head and loud meow. Hope this helps and thanks for posting about Sage. Suzanne

Just a little kiss for you. Yes, to say I love you. Aren't cats the greatest?! I have two cats and two dogs but if it ever came down to takin' sides the cats win hands down. BTW I would never want to part with any of my pets. I used to have a cat that would do that to my ear when I was trying to sleep on the couch. Luv Kitties!!!

Yes it means he loves you and that he would like your attention. That is their way of signaling they want to be petted or played with, etc. My cat does something similiar. He comes in the room and sits right infront of me, staring at me until I notice him and ask him what? Then he jumps on me and rubs his head on my chin. My other cat briskly rubs his tail along my leg. So IMO that is a way of saying "hey, pay attention to me! I want to be petted and played with" :D That is a cute name by the way! Ziggy is right, cats do mark their territory with the gland behind their ears, but you said he rubs his nose on your foot...But either way he just wants your attention! :D

He loves you. Rubbing against you is showing you affection and also marking you with his scent so that other cats know you belong to him. It's often a sneaky hint that they want you to make a fuss of them too.
He sounds like a very happy cat.

He loves you and wants you to pay attention to him. My cats do it all the time and I melt everytime they do it. It doesnt matter what I am doing, I will pick them up and cuddle with them. They are so cute.

You answered yourself. Cats are very affectionate animals and bond well with a person who is usually there. Your kitty may also be marking you as his/her territory. Cats have scent glands behind their ears and when they rub against something they are marking it as theirs.

he does love you. more specifically he is marking you as his property. you belong to him. there are glands in a cat's face that secrete a pheromone. this pheromone tells others that you are a kept woman. how lucky for you!
