Two days ago I was on the delta website and found tickets from Jacksonville to Milwaukee on 12/18-12/25 for $188, I go to purchase them today and they are $272!!! How can they go up almost $100 in less than 2 days, its crazy. I need to get tickets on those dates for pretty cheap where do you recommend looking. My husband is on a single military income so price is the most important factor.

You can always bid on them on http://www.priceline.com
however, the prices do jump the closer to the date you of travel and as the flights fill up. So i suggest if you do find another relatively cheaper flight, book it right away

Any travel during the holidays is going to continue to rise between now and then. The prices will continue to go up until people stop buying tickets and then they go on sale, just before the date to leave. the airlines count on people to not wait until the last minute and pay outrageous prices. You should go to southwest.com, download the Ding! software, and check the alerts that come up. every day it adds specials to all kinds of airports. at least this way you can check on specials in case nothing else comes up.

I suggest purchasing though the airline's website since they generally try to compete with third-party sites such as priceline.com and they don't charge a booking fee. You can also sometimes select your seats.

It's now difficult to book a cheap fare for the specified dates. Can you adjust your travel dates? If you can, go to Qfares.

Check Cheapoair.com or Hotwire.com. Also Yahoo's Farechaser and sidestep.com are good sites that look at a bunch of airlines.
