Hi everyone! I just got engaged! So happy and excited! I wanted to get your opinions. Me and my fiance were supposed to have a court wedding because we wanted it simple and small. Now, we want to have a bigger wedding. We want to budget for this wedding but know that we have to save. We want to get married sometime next year. We are thinking of having about possibly 100-200 guests. I would like to have the wedding and the reception in the same area. A beach wedding would be great! Does anyone know a place where we can have a nice wedding that is affordable? We want to try to spend less than $6000? Any suggestions would be great! Thank you!

BTW, I already have a brother in law that can do the photography for the wedding and reception. I just need a place where I can have the wedding and reception. Is there any place that charges less than $100 a plate? Thanks again!

A budget of $6,000 is pretty tight; the average wedding in 2007 was about $28,000 USD. This is your special day though and if that is your budget I am sure you can make it work.

Even though you are on a tight budget you still might consider talking to a wedding planner or coordinator. While that may cut into the budget, a planner can assure you stay on budget and make the best possible wedding from what you want to spend.

There is a web site called the weddingknot.com. I am sure that they can help you with all your needs. My husband and I went to Las Vegas and got married in a chapel right in our hotel. It was beautiful. My son gave me away and my daughter was my maid of honor. We went out to dinner at a fabulous Italian restaurant that was also located in the hotel. We stayed for 5 days so we had our honeymoon too and we spent only 2500 dollars. Of course if you want more people at your wedding then it will cost more but I am sure they can give you a good price and suggestions. Good luck and congrats

You can always have your family and friends help with the decorations and have your food catered in, instead of actually paying someone to set-up everything for you.

I'd personally stick with the court House wedding and use the money for a fantastic honeymoon. Besides it should be about the two of you not everyone else.

I don't know anything about the boathouse, sorry. I can say that when I helped plan and execute my brother-in-law/sister-in-law's wedding - they had it at the Hotel Del Coronado - in my opinion it was worth every penny of their money, and yes it was a hefty price tag. Their staff made sure things were what and how they wanted it and they delivered what they promised; since I played multiple roles in helping her the staff communicated with me as well as with her and treated us like we were paying thousands of dollars to use their facility --- oh wait - we were... (what I'm trying to say is they treated us with respect and understood the importance of the big day).

Start with the resorts. Hotel Del is awesome.... it may end up costing more than $6K, though.
