He has gotten you to fool yourself. Good for him. Now when you realize that the fear itself is fooling you, then you will be positioned to overcome it. Your boyfriend gave you a bypass. But he didn't fix the problem. You have to do that. He didn't give you an help in getting the phobia. You got it on your own.
Remember this: ALL fear is irrational. It has no basis in reality. It is a mirage. Like seeing water in the desert.

A lot of it is just all in the mind, and reasoning with it can sometimes cure it.
