I have a friend who increasingly uses drugs more and more. He smokes zoot all day, snorts some yay, then blows green to calm down.

I'm getting worried. What can I do to help?

Report him to the police. Seriously, sometimes it takes that to get someone to wake up! He'd be forced to detox in jail, unless someone bailed him out. Which wouldn't do him any good at all! Possibly rehab but that person has to be wanting and willing.

Good luck!

First off all you can do is be his friend, if he does not want help it's not going to happen. Talk to him and be there as much as possible maybe talk to his family and do your own kind of intervention, But honestly he needs to realize that he has a problem, You can't help someone who does not want to help themselves. I wish you the best of luck with your friend and I hope that he know's what a good friend he has that is so worried about him.

The sad fact is that until he's ready to stop, you probably can't get him to. You can tell him that you're concerned about his drug use and worried about what it's doing to his health, but you most likely won't get him to stop using. He has to want to stop and has to be committed to doing a program that will help him achieve that.

Better to just take care of yourself, it's definitely right to care- but don't let his problem rule you.
Suggest treatment or 12 step meetings to him. If he's not ready, you might want to tell him that you care deeply but can no longer watch him in this state of decline-then cut him out of your life! (It's called tough love). Send a clear message that his abuse is not acceptable,...it may save his life!

the best thing you can do is to let him know that you are worried but, in the end only he can decide to stop. there are self-help groups out there i..e.. alchoholics anonymous but even they will tell you that he has to want to stop for himself. be firm with him and what ever you do DO NOT ENABLE HIM in his addiction.
