If someone wants to discuss their belief of God. They are accused of preaching, and they should keep it to themselves. Yet, when a person speak, or should it be preach! about not believing in God. That is fine. It is only freedom of speech!
Would that fall under prejudice, or freedom of speech is for the select few?

When I want to get coffee. I only want coffee, not get a sermon for or against any beliefs. If I want to be preach. I go to the right place, Temple, Church, Mosques. Not a coffee shop, or anywhere else.

Donna F,
Oh dear, my dear. Here you go again and read into things that aren't there.
My question was not about reporting. It is about freedom of speech. Some people think it is fine because they don't believe, but it is not for those who believe.
I don't want to read a Scripture of any nature more than I would like to read the opinion of someone who doesn't believe. Just coffee ma'am. nothing else.

Thank you for you input anyhow.

The "seclarization" of public places IS supporting atheism
and this can turn into communism if we are not careful!

So what you are saying is that only theists have the right to free speech?

Because this is about a coffee cup message and now because it is "horrible and ungodly" there should be a massive boycott yet others cannot say it is f'n stupid.

Massive hypocrisy there my internet neighbor

I have an answer on that question summing it up. Why can your religious buildings be tax free and wake me up on sunday, ring my doorbell and harass me about God, try to force my kid to pray to your god in public school, vote on MY life based on what YOUR God says....and you should be allowed to do this without one comment....yet a simple coffee cup saying we should think for ourselves and not ask God for every single little thing is viciously attacked by the religious community.

So this is actually reversed...it's all good and fair when it is FOR religion but let anti-religion speak up and we get protests, hate mail, boycotts, murders, etc.

kaboodle> nope I disagree. It is keeping religion in check since for some reason society thinks religion is immune from corruption and would never abuse its power, despite vast evidence from history that it almost always does so. Also the whole communism bars religion is because religion had become so corrupt it was in league with the rich to keep the masses under their thumb and working for a mere pittance in exchange for "rewards in the afterlife"

Free speech means anyone can say whatever they like; it has exceptions. You cannot infringe upon someone elses rights or defame them falsely. ie. You can say what you want about someone, so long as you're not lying. Since you cannot prove nor disprove God, hes basically open for both sides to say anything they want about him.

There is no difference whether you are athiest or thiest. Free speech is for everyone. The only difference I see is that athiests are going to irritate the religious people with their comments and religious people are going to irritate basically anyone who doesn't share their faith.

Edit: I happened to really agree with what "Moral Majority" said where it is rather unfair that woman can choose whether or not to be mothers and have the baby (which is fine, its their body, not against that) BUT men are not allowed to choose whether to be the fathers or not. They should only be forced to pay for the child in the case that they wish to be the father and have rights to that child same as the mother.

"The Way I See It #92:
You are not an accident. Your parents may not have planned you, but God did. He wanted you alive and created you for a purpose. Focusing on yourself will never reveal your purpose. You were made by God and for God, and until you understand that, life will never make sense. Only in God do we discover our origin, our identity, our meaning, our purpose, our significance, and our destiny. -- Dr. Rick Warren, author of 'The Purpose-Driven Life'"

Here's another.

"The Way I See It #250:
In reality hell is not such an intention of God as it is an invention of man. God is love and people are precious. Authentic truth is not so much taught or learned as it is remembered. Somewhere in your pre-incarnate consciousness you were loved absolutely because you were. Loved absolutely, and in reality, you still are! Remember who you are! -- Bishop Carlton Pearson
Author, speaker, spiritual leader and recording artist"

So much for SBUX censoring religious viewpoints.

I'm guessing these messages don't bother you at all.

SBUX lets both viewpoints have their say, despite what the media and religious zealots want you to believe, and I say good for SBUX. Free speech applies to all viewpoints, and SBUX is allowing all perspectives to be heard. Too bad some people are so threatened by opposing viewpoints and jump to conclusions before they know all the facts.

If you really don't want opinions with your coffee, you don't go to SBUX anyway, because they've been doing this "The Way I See It" campaign for years. You just don't want opinions that YOU disagree with.

define freedom of speech and the place? Freedom of speech would not advise freedom to unfold lies in the church. in case you desire to lie everywhere else, knock your self out. in case you advise freedom of expressing the reality, why might God be against that? by regulation, we've not got the liberty of speech just to assert something we would like everywhere we decide for interior the u . s .. There are regulations on it. As could be to three quantity.

You may preach anywhere you like the words of your deity of choice, just as I may preach the nonexistence of all deities anywhere --

With exception:

Government buildings and government functions.

If you (meaning: not you as an individual, but in the USA, Christianity as a whole) remove your speaking in these places, I will do so mine. Until then, no deal.

So what you are saying is Free Speech is Free as long as it is regulated? IS that right? If this is what Christians want to do then it is going to lead to no Free Speech at all.

I have no problem with someone discussing their belief in god. However, I do have a problem when someone refuses to respect my request to stop talking to ME about it.

Typical liberal hypocrisy.

It is the same reason why they claim racism against minorities is wrong but racism against whites is ok.

It is why they are pro-choice for females (Females should be entitled to choose abortion) but they are NOT pro-choice for males (Why not let a man choose whether he wants a child and if not absolve him of child support obligations.)

I could go on and on about liberal hypocrisy.
