Personally I like the bigger breeds-- usually they end up calmer and they're just so much fun to play with (I feel like I'll break a Pom by holding the little guys) My favs are shepherds and Ibizans.

What about you?

We have a great breed of dogs that most people have never seen. It calls an Australian terrier. Good with children, good with seniors, friendly, a very light shedder, sturdy, health, minimum grooming, works in a small living area, a great big personality in a little body. These are great dogs, but they will not work for a lot of people as they are terriers (or terrist)and they need their people. Also a little hard to get.

I personally think the answering others have given is great as it shows these people love their dogs and the breed works for them. I believe that there is no one breed that works for everybody.

The best dog for me - the one I happen to be petting at the moment. I'm mommy to a wonderful Pit Bull and 15 year old Border Collie - but my BFF has a very spoiled Boston Terrier - and his folks have a wonderful black pug. My folks used to collect live great danes - had as many as 5 - in the house - in addition to several golden retrievers - but it was the miniature dachshund that rules their home.

But remember - dogs are all one species - so deep within the heart of a great dane is a Pomeranian waiting to be let out.

That said, I knew a chihuahua named Cheech who was very much a DOG. Oh my! Cheech was/is very much a doggy-dog.

We also love the larger breeds. We had a chocolate lab that we lost last year to osteosarcoma. He was 12 and a half. He was an absolutely amazing member of our family and he will always be. We now have a 13 month old yellow lab. I also won't trade him for the world. Honestly....all size dogs are wonderful in their own way. You gotta love them all!!!!!

I could never pick! But I aggree with the bigger breeds, I'm too afraid of hurting the smaller ones. And plus, I don't like their yipping. When they bark, it's so squeaky and annoying. Bigger dogs have louder barks that don't kill my ears.

I also like to use them for pillows. Their usually pretty comfy and most don't mind =3

I agree with Jacqueline, I love Designer Dogs. I have a beautiful sweet Bichonpoo that I bought from a breeder. I also move Maltipoos and Havipoos.

My vote goes to the Portuguese Water Dogs, there medium/large dogs, there full of energy and have great temperament's. I love mine, they are a bit expensive tho.. $1500-2000
