Arabic for God. It derives from Ilah: God, but has the distinct notion that Allah is the true God, etymologically formed by the use of ‘Al,’ the Arabic definite article and ‘Ilah’ and then combined into ‘Allah’

Christian Arabs speak Arabic. In that language Allah means God. In this country we speak English. and here the word Allah has a meaning of being the god of Islam.. That is why.. Like it or not.. IHS Jim

God and Allah are the same God whether Muslims, Christians or Jews like to accept it or not.

Arabs speak Arabic. In that language, the word that represents the idea of the supreme being as postulated by the three major monotheistic religions is "Allah."

French people refer to that entity as "Dieu," the Germans as "Gott," and the Spanish as "Dios."

Christian arabs use the term allah, but they are obviously using it to describe a different entity than the muslims are. Any muslim will tell you their allah can't do the things the christian one did, i.e. have a son, put his spirit in a human body, allow that body to die, etc.

Pesky Arabs. I doubt if "American Christians claim they are unequal" Christians don't usually go in for polytheism. Should they Arabs say "God", in English?

Because, in their culture, they are taught that Allah means god. However, in actuality, Allah is the name of the minor idol that Muhamed's Bedouin tribe worshiped before he united the Arabs. He then just declared, "Oh, by the way, my tribe's idol is god."
