My husband is military, so we did the whole courthouse thing too, just to be "safe" because you never know when a deployment or orders will pop up. I wore and white dress that had a few gold accents in it...

Try looking at places in the mall that may not be "formal" stores, but they have dresses... such as places like The Body Shop...

And dont listen when people tell you to wait for the church wedding... actually, after I did it and started planning the actual ceremony and reception, my wedding planner told me that A LOT of people choose to do it this way because it helps take stress out of the ceremony (since the "big part" is already done)... also, it is VERY common among military couples because of reasons like yours and mine. And dont let anyone tell you that you are being "greedy" by having a ceremony and reception even though you are already married... everyone deserves to have what they want... you arent being greedy. Good luck with everything!

Get on any wedding site - davids bridal or the knot would be good places to start. Go to where they have the dresses for the mother of the bride. Often you can find a white or offwhite less dressy dress. Or Search for casual wedding dresses. Which sounds perfect for what you need it for until you have the big wedding. Check out these links - gl and congrats!

Just do a search for white dress. I know a lot of department stores (carson pirie scott, J.C.Penney) had white dresses when I was looking about a month ago, I'm sure they'll still have some in stock. You may have to search through the clearance racks, but you could find your diamond in the rough, so to speak, of a casual white dress.

Good Luck!

Check out JC Penneys online. They have a wedding section with fairly cheap dresses. They also have cute dresses in the 'dressed up' section. Check out bridesmaid dresses. There's actually lots of places. Just search around on the net.

why not have the whole big church wedding before he goes?

its seems like an added and unecessary expense to have 2 weddings

have the church one you can do it you still have 4 full months before feb
I think you will regret having a court house union it will take the joy out of the church wedding and seems kinda pointless

You can wear a dressy suit or just about anything you like. You can find a short wedding dress at David's Bridal or most bridal shops.

particular. i think of an user-friendly knee-length white dress is rather perfect for the social gathering. I went to a courtroom-abode marriage and the bride offered her dress at JCpenney. For the dimensions of the marriage, that is incredibly no longer nicely worth identifying to purchase an extraordinarily costly dress. Their wedding ceremony lasted like 5 minutes. that's the photos which will count extensive type, plus video. So ensure you get a super type of p.c... a super type of courtroom residences have beautiful shrubs or statues around them, they make very perfect p.c... Congratulations, and stable good fortune!

go to a formal wear shop (i.e. bridal). You may even need to look on-line. You can also look at thrift/consignment shops. A lot of people donate their good conditioned used evening/cocktail gowns.

If you go to Nordstroms or Macy's and tell them what you are looking for they may be able to help you.

When are you looking to get married? February is a while off still.

I did a search on Google for "white casual wedding dress" Here's the search:

I'm not sure of your style or size, etc, but here's some of what I found...

This one is very cool because you pick the different pieces, but it's not too formal (and they are beautiful!):

These are some pretty informal dresses:

Here's another siet that has informal, yet pretty dresses:

Amazon has some really pretty dresses that come in white:
