My 20 month old loves his, and he has been playing with them since his first birthday. In the beginning he just liked knocking down towers that I built, but now he is stacking the blocks well and building his own towers. And just giggles like crazy when he knocks them down. As long as the blocks are big, as to not be a choking hazard, all should be fine.

I don't know how enormous the first poster's kid's mouth is, but there's no way to choke on a megablock. They're enormous! They're perfect for a 1 yr old. I'd have more of a problem having a 4 or 5 year old play with them because at that point they're ready for Legos, not baby toys. They're not that messy and easy to clean up--throw them in the container. Your little guy can help. Have fun building towers!

It depends on what size blocks they are. I started my toddlers out on the jumbo blocks that pose no possible choking risk. I would wait on any blocks that are small enough to fit in the mouth. But the mega blocks themselves have always been my kids favorite toys. Yeah, they are a mess to clean up, but it allows them to really be creative. And as my kids have gotten bigger the blocks have gotten smaller and the creations more complex. Great toys!

Mega blocks are perfect for your sons age. My kids had them from 1 on and loved them. It is good for their motor skills as well. They are so big that clean up is really easy. Just get a bin or laundry basket to keep them in instead of the bag they come in. And kids love to clean up and dump at that age also.

I got some when my son was a year old. He loved them! He is almost 2 now.. He and his 3 year old sister still love them! Yes, they make a mess, but the joy my kids get out of them is worth it! I've never had a problem with them...In fact they are one of my favorite toys they have!
I also do play group with a bunch of moms and we've had some of the babies grab them... NOT one of them has choked!

mega blocks are from age 12 months + so he is not old enough for him. Good toys ive found for his age are talking teddis that count and sing, educational bath toys (my son loves his baths) good ones for out of the bath are the pop up ones, where you have to push, twist etc and it brings up like a farm animal,. oh and those shape sorters are brilliant, keeps my son amused for hours trying to find the right shapes-holes lol. Some crayons and a large roll of paper are good for half an hour too, both my kids enjoy it so it is good for the older ones too. Hope ive helped. oh and touchy feely books are good too.

mega blocks are perfect for this age.... i worked in a private day nursery for under 2's and became room leader for 1 to 2 year olds.... i had mega blocks out all the time... its great for their development and they have loads of fun building and knocking them down, its great for their concentration and the assessments and observations for the children in my care was 'can build a tower of 3 or more blocks', it can be fun for you and your child... using praise when they can stack them and having fun knocking them down so they can rebuilt it, it can keep them occupied for ages, also they can begin to learn colours from them.... you just have to point to the blocks and say the colours and just keep repeating, when they pick a block up just say what colour it is....your child will love them and probably at first they may not play with them for long because they are not used to them but keep getting them out and sitting with your child the first few times will be better cus you are joining in too and playing and they will like the attention from you too :)
