I've had dogs my entire life and never gone. What are they like? Anyone ever had any problems taking a dog there?

Yep, my guy is in great health, all vacs-- and amazingly well-behaved. He just needs to be able to play with other dogs, at the moment I'm thinking of adopting another.

We have a dog beach and a dog park. I actually like the dog park better than the beach (though the fur girls probably enjoy the beach more). I also like the park because the dogs are separated by size. They have spigots for the girls to take a drink. Areas are fenced off so larger and smaller fur friends can play with others that are their own size. Once in a while, you get an owner who is socializing a little more than supervising their fur friend who gets out of control, but everyone pitches in when disputes ocur or someone goes awry. I think the dog beach is a bit more of a free for all, many owners don't control their animals and don't pick up after them either because they feel the ocean will do their job for them. I always give my peskie eskies a bath after being at the park because I have found fleas and ticks on them and even though they are treated, I am an overprotective doggie mama...

I’m undecided what people wish to end by employing having their dogs on lead while the others are loose. the prospect of aggression is larger while a dogs is on lead. no longer basically does the leashed dogs have an area and person to shelter, there's a actual restraint so he can get greater agitated pulling against it. If the owner pulls a annoying dogs faraway from others, it reinforces that some thing is incorrect so a annoying dogs will stay annoying. the only ingredient that would perhaps make experience is they have been working in direction of obedience with their dogs. i might advise a distinctive place, which includes perfect exterior the off-leash area, yet in step with threat that's what they have been doing? education?

I've never had much of a problem going to one. There was one time when this couple had a couple of bulldogs that were being agressive and they didn't bother to control their dogs.
Off-leash parks are great for your dog to run around and be socialized. Most people pick up after their dog, as they are surrounded by other owners who usually say something if they don't.
You will probably need to bathe your dog after, good chance of fleas jumping on him while he is playing too.

Yep- the dogs LOVE to go. The only thing I recommend is to be prepared to thoroughly wipe him/her down or give a bath because they get filthy dirty while playing.

You may want to bring a long leash and keep your dog on it just until you know how they'll react. You also need to have the kind of dog that will respond to a "come" command otherwise you're going to have problems. Of course, only go if your dog has all his vaccines and is in good health.

I could take my dog when she was a puppy, but as she got older, she got a little more aggressive in her play, and not so dog friendly.

I cannot take my dogs to the parks anymore, because they're trouble makers.

You'll often encounter trouble at a dog park, loose dogs, dog fights, etc. I would encourage a small play date with several dogs your dog is familiar with, rather than throwing it into a field with 20 dogs it doesn't know.

I couldn't live without our local dog run! Some people are friendly, others not. The only problems that arise are when a couple of dogs gang up on another dog (sizes are irrelevant - my 57lb dog has been cornered by a chihuahua before), but it's not hard to control.

I'm all for it - it's great for your pooch to interact with other dogs.

we go every night.

In 3 months of going practically daily I've only had 2 problems:
1. My neutered dog tried to mate with a female in heat someone had brought- they got stuck and the ignorant owner tried to pull them apart making my dog yelp etc.

2. He got rushed and almost attacked by 2 viscous dogs someone had brought and kept in a separate area- they went under the fence to get my dog.

He has alot of fun their though- so many dogs to play with - different sizes, play-styles etc.

The dog park I went 2 had 2 different sides, one for big dogs and one for small.. they all seem to get along, if the dogs get aggressive you have to remove them from the park.

I enjoy going. It's great for socialization. You do bump into the occasional jerk that doesn't take responsibility for their dog; but overall - thumbs up!
