I have never bathed any of our pups until they were 6 -7 weeks old. Ther really is no reason to give a 3 week old pup a bath.

Wait until they are Seven weeks old. All of our bullies were "formally" bathed at that age(7 weeks). Before then, we just used a face cloth with some OATMEAL soap. I ONLY ! I just love 'em. Do not forget to clean their ears. Also, keep a bottle of "Plastic Real Lemon" on hand, just in case they have phlegm(a couple of drops in their mouth).

Good luck and Congrats. English Bullies ARE my favorite breed. Fellow posters: please understand that caring for an English Bulldog puppy/puppies is VERY different than caring for another ***** and her pups. Because of their size; the mother can easily crush her puppies. Caring for bully pups is time consuming as well as demanding. Someone must be there at all times. They are delivered via c-section and require 24 hour care until they are at least 8 wks. old. At times, these dogs are bottle fed ,despite the fact that their mother produces milk. Realize, that "Mum" is recovering from her surgery. Taking care of bully pups is JUST like taking care of an infant. This includes adulthood, too. They are unable to "reach" certain parts of their bodies. Requiring the owner to clean their flews(folds in their faces), applying various creams and lotions to the skin, wiping their faces along with providing the pup with "plastic real Lemon" when phlegm becomes a problem. I have rocked my bullies in an attempt to clear their airways. They have fallen asleep in my arms while doing so. Then there is foot care because they are prone to cysts between their toes. I only use metal food bowls. Why? well sometimes they react to certain agents in the plastic causing skin irritations, such as Eczema. They come with a bounty of allergies and respiratory issues but it doesn't stop there. There are problems with their eyes and joints. This is why "proper breeding " is necessary. The askers question isn't silly. They are asking a legitimate question pertaining to the breed.

I would never bathe a 3 week old puppy unless there was an extreme need to! They are much too young and chill easily. Also, Mom is usually keeping them spotless at this age. Why do you want to bathe them?

I have bathed many pups even younger but usually due to fleas. at 4 weeks very often as they begin to get weaned and make a mess as the walk through and play in the mushy food

There should be no need to. The mom should be taking care of them. If for some reason she isnt then you could clean her with a warm cloth but no soap. Don't saturate her just wipe her down with the cloth. But if the mom is a good mom she should be cleaning them.

You can bath the pup,but the Mom should be keeping this pup clean.Just be sure and blow dry it with a blow dryer on warm setting and don't let it get chilled.

Their mama should be keeping them clean.

Puppies like our babies have a specific smell & it is OK. Let mama do her job.

I raised six puppies from birth & since I did not have a mama to keep them clean I had to bathe them. If they had of had a mom I would have left it up to her.
