I can agree with your hypothesis. I believe that Mr. X has missed the mark, however. "Sin" from the Jewish faith, is where Christianity gets it's definition from. It needs to be noted that the Jewish Torah is where the Christian Old Testament comes from. So, if original sin and all else that goes with, is found in the Christian Bible, it's in the Jewish texts as well.

Yes.
The Church says that sin is at its root the using of good things for bad goals.
All the hurt and anguish that is caused by people is the empirical proof that we are rather adept at sinning.
Does it accurately describe the human condition? Not fully, I don't think. I think growth, as in growth out of sin and into God's love and light, also describes the human condition.

Whether you call it "sin" or something else, those things you mention are obviously real and obviously a problem that mankind must deal with. I'd say yes, based on observation, "sin" does exist in the world.

I think sin is all around us and is in us because I for one am not perfect and have to ask for forgiveness. I think if one cannot figure out what sin is then their moral compass is out of whack. I try everyday to teach my daughters how to choose between good and evil and that there is a consequence to pay for the wrong choice. We all loose our tempers once in awhile but we need to remember to say we're sorry and ask for forgiveness (and really mean it.)

The sin sub routine is a verifiable part of the program that places challenges in front of each individuals scripted executable. To avoid the sin sub routine you need to adhere to the parameters of your designated religious programming or when conditions are favorable delete religious programming altogether thus also deleting the sin subroutine. Always remember to take your blue pill.

if you're using the jewish definition of sin, as it seems you are (the arrow missing the mark thing is the jewish definition), then i'm all with you.
if you're using the christian definition, about original sin and condemnation to hell and the need for salvation, then you lose me. those are all puerile threats in my opinion, and are useless to me.
humans, like the animals, do things that can be categorized as good and also do thing that can be characterized as evil. all of us.
the difference is that as humans, we can tell the difference.
that is the meaning of the garden of eden story...

People might have different ideas of what we were meant to be, but nearly everyone would agree that humans are not perfect.

Yes. It is so bad that we even call evil good. It is so bad that some are deceiving themselves. Sin is disobedience to God, because only God knows what is good for mankind. God is the Great Lawgiver. God says "do this" and "i will do this."

You see it everywhere you look. God created a perfect world and Adam and Eve screwed it up. Death and decay are in the world now and excelerates daily. Jesus came to save us from that decay, we still die in this world but only to live in another.
