It really depends on you and your beliefs. In Hinduism the belief is that god is in everything, there are just different methods that will bring you closer to him. In Buddhism the belief is that a search for god is a lost cause. Searching will actually take you further away so you must concentrate on finding yourself and through this an ultimate realization is inevidable. Christians believe that god is found through Jesus, but do not mistake that Jesus is god. Jesus himself was just a speaker for god as is Muhummad for those of Islamic faith. To find god a divine faith in the Father, son, and holy spirit must be established. I am not an expert but these are my understandings of how differing types of people find god.

If you are in search of God its because He is calling you. He is right there with you. Just talk to Him like you would a friend.

“As for Jehovah, he has looked down from heaven itself upon the sons of men, to see whether there exists anyone having insight, anyone seeking Jehovah.” (Psalm 14:2)

Yes, the Sovereign Lord is aware of those who seek to know and serve him. Thus, our earnestly seeking him now is vital. It will mean the difference between everlasting life and everlasting extinction.

Hebrews 11:6: “Moreover, without faith it is impossible to please [him] well, for he that approaches God must believe that he is and that he becomes the rewarder of those earnestly seeking him.” Your search for God puts you on the right track toward having that faith.

Therefore, we can see why it is so important that we help others to seek Jehovah God now. There are still millions of people who have never met one of Jehovah’s Witnesses or heard the “good news of the kingdom.” And how much greater in number the “great crowd” will turn out to be before “the great tribulation,” we do not know. But there is certainly the potential for more to seek and find Jehovah God in the immediate future before it is too late. The question now is, What can we do to help myriads more to find God? (Revelation 7:9, 14)

Matthew 24:14: “And this good news of the kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations; and then the end will come.” Yes, one of the most effective ways to help countless people to search for God is by means of the preaching work, which is done in over 230 lands worldwide.

Those who have searched for the true God have found him. You are still searching, which is commendable. James 4:8 says, “Draw close to God, and he will draw close to you.” By active association with the Christian congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses, such ones can draw closer to God in ways that others cannot. When one seeks for God and works hard towards searching for the true God, Jehovah God, in turn, will let himself be found by you and draw closer to you. (John 6:44, 65)

To illustrate the need for immediate action, would you follow a doctor’s good advice only when you already had double pneumonia? Or, rather, when you noted the first symptoms of sickness? Then why wait any longer to separate yourself from Satan’s sick world and to side with Jehovah and his Witnesses? The consequences of apathy, indifference, and neglect are made clear at Proverbs 1:26-29: “I also, for my part, shall laugh at your own disaster, I shall mock when what you dread comes . . . At that time they will keep calling me, but I shall not answer; they will keep looking for me, but they will not find me, for the reason that they hated knowledge, and the fear of Jehovah they did not choose.” Let us not be found ‘looking for Jehovah’ when it is too late!

Some who read the words above and below may still be in the course of searching for the true God. We are glad you are persisting in your search. We pray that your Bible knowledge will motivate you to take further positive action to stand firm for the truth. Be assured that each congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses stands ready to help you in your search. (Philippians 2:1-4)

Those who neglect Jehovah’s counsel that they search for him while he may be found and who put off their decision until they actually see the great tribulation starting will find they have waited too long. Such a course would indicate a lack of faith and wisdom and would be contemptuous of Jehovah’s undeserved kindness. (2 Corinthians 6:1, 2)

It sounds like a silly question at first, but it isn't.

People used to think God was in the sky or somewhere else in the cosmos. Then with advances in science disproving it, they were forced to come up with lame answers such as 'in your heart' or 'everywhere'

No matter which way you turn you head you will see God because God is the Universe (the universe within and out); what theologian Paul Tillich called "the ground of being" and Albert Einstein called "space-time".

"Do not say in your heart, who shall ascend to Heaven, that is to bring Him down from above... Christ is near you, in your mouth and in your heart." Romans 10:6-8.

"In Christ we live and move and have our being." Acts 17:28.

Christ is the life of everything that lives. He said, "I am the life."

If you recognize that, then He lives in your heart by faith.

Then trust wholly in His merits for your salvation, now and ever, and the Holy Spirit will do for you that which it is not in your power to do for yourself. He will accomplish everything. In fact He is already at work in your heart. You cannot have any inclination to come to God unless He sets in motion influences and impresses His Spirit upon your human mind. If there is a man on the face of this earth who has any inclination toward God, it is because of the many influences that are set to work to bear upon his mind and heart. Those influences call for the allegiance to God and an appreciation of the great work that God has done for him.

The spirit of God dwells within you and has always been with you as your higher self .Everyone has within themselves the ability to tap into the universal mind and to realize ones worth and purpose in life. The kingdom of God dwells within you and always will in the form of your very own higher self.

God is a myth, my dear. Your time is better spent looking for your own life, making this life good for you and for others... it's the only type of godliness that actually exists.
