I am in the process of trying to become the woman I was meant to be, and I would appreciate any advice or tips to help me through my transition from male to female. I would also like to know what effects I will experience first due to hormone treatment, which I will hopefully be starting soon. As well as will the hormones help me prevent my penis from becoming erect, and anything else who has been through this can think of that will help me. Again any advice or tips, and info will be greatly appreciated.

I just don't know enough about this topic of hormone treatments etc. to give you any advice. All I wanted to say is "You go girl"! Best wishes with your transition and I hope all your dreams of physically becoming a woman come true so your outside matches how you feel on the inside ;)
I think you need more thorough advice that Yahoo Answers just can't offer. Maybe a support group in your area or on the net.

This is a perfectly legitimate type of question to answer in the LGBT section (just read questions/answers in this section over the last several months where I have seen several good specific Q&As on this topic). Your question is very high level and thus hard to answer as the response would require one to type way more than they have time for. Try searching the web on the topic. I found it very easy over the years to find several web papers from individuals and therapists on just what you want to know. Also, there are several published books I have read (available at book stores/web vendors) on this topic that are extremely informative on what you ask.

My biggest advice would be to get support from loved ones. This is going to be a confusing road for you. I am involved with an FTM transgender man, and I see for both of us its confusing, exciting, and sometimes scary. There are great support groups out there. Yahoo groups may have some you would want to check out. Make sure you have a top notch doctor. I know a guy who went to a doctor for his top surgery because the doctor was "affordable" but they left him with just a flat chest and no nipples. If he had researched a better doctor and saved a bit longer, he would be fine. Research and support are the most important things I can think of. I wish the best of luck on your journey. I am sure you are an amazing women.

There are probably support groups made up of others going through the same thing. A real good spot to start with is your doctor, as (hopefully) he or she has taken others through this process.

Check with the LGBT center in your city. They probably have either support groups or other resources to offer that will answer the questions you may have. I know the center here in Baltimore had resources for transgendered persons. Best wishes!

Do whatever makes you happy. Research the topic or google it. Try some different Transgendered groups or asks other transgendered people. On this site you will encounter close-minded retards who will just bash you. good luck

Maybe change your screen name from cityguy to citygirl?
BTW I doubt you will find a lot of support on Y!A . . try a forum specifically for transgendered individuals- one that screens its users. Good luck!
