I am planning on throwing my son a birthday party in November and am inviting quite a few of his little cousins that range in age from 1-4. I would like to have a special selection of foods for them, what are some ideas? Are there any websites with kid menus/recipes? Thanks for your answers!

Last year I spent a ton of time and money on my daughter's 2nd birthday party. I made all sorts of food items, and none of it got eaten, not even by the parents. Kids don't care about most of it. So this year, I had pizza delivered (I had it double cut, meaning cut so the slices were 1/2 the size of normal), cut up some cantaloupe and other fruit, put out chips and dip, and Pirate's Booty (like popcorn but no kernel), and had bottles of water, soda in cans, beer, and juice boxes. It was so low key and everyone ate it! Also, I had Walmart make the birthday cake out of cupcakes so there was no cutting of the cake, just lots of cupcakes for the kids to enjoy. Goodluck

kids love these recipes.

Meatballs serves 10

INGREDIENTS
1 tablespoon and 2 teaspoons butter
1-2/3 cups chopped green bell pepper
1-2/3 cups chopped onion
1-2/3 (10.75 ounce) cans condensed tomato soup
1-2/3 (10.5 ounce) cans condensed chicken and rice soup
3/4 cup and 1 tablespoon and 1 teaspoon water
1-3/4 pounds ground beef
1-2/3 egg
3 tablespoons and 1 teaspoon milk
3-1/4 slices bread

DIRECTIONS
Melt butter in a large saucepan over medium heat. Saute green pepper and onion for 5 minutes, or until tender. Stir in the tomato soup, chicken & rice soup and the water and bring to boil. Reduce heat to low and allow to simmer.
Meanwhile, in a separate bowl, combine the ground beef, egg and milk. Break the bread into very small pieces and add to the bowl. Mix together well. (Note: The kids love to use their hands to mix this. Be sure they wash them well before AND afterward to avoid any contamination.)
Shape the meat mixture into meatballs and drop them into the soup mixture. Continue to simmer over low heat, uncovered, for 45 to 60 minutes. Stir occasionally, but be very careful not to break the meatballs.

Pretzel Salad serves 12

INGREDIENTS
1 (15 ounce) package pretzels
2/3 cup peanut oil
1 (1 ounce) package garlic and herb salad dressing mix
2 pinches salt

DIRECTIONS
In a large bag combine pretzels, peanut oil, salad dressing mix and salt. Shake bag to coat pretzels.

Taco Sandwich serves 12

INGREDIENTS
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
1 (16 ounce) container sour cream
1 (1.25 ounce) package taco seasoning mix
10 (10 inch) flour tortillas

DIRECTIONS
In a medium-size mixing bowl, blend together cream cheese, and sour cream. Mix in taco seasonings. Layer mixture onto tortillas; stack the tortillas 5 high, with the mixture layered between them. Cover and refrigerate overnight. Cut into 1 inch squares and serve.

LOL well I never had kids to have to deal with it, but I've attended lots of parties thrown by friends for their kids. Seems to me wobbly jellies, colored ice cream and cookies with funny faces are all winners. If it's sweet, very colorful, and brought "alive" with faces made out of chocolate, frosting designs, and edible accessories, everyone is sure to have a fun time.

Mini of everything! Mini pizzas (like bagel bites), baby carrots, mini cookies, muffins, tea size sandwiches, etc. Kids love things being in "their size" and this also ensures less waste since the servings are smaller.

Go to www.foodnetwork.com look under sandra lee or type in kids fun food in their search bar. For my nephew's 4th birthday party , it was fiesta themed and they had nachos, tacos, and for desert they had bananas dipped in nuts, caramel, and the kind of chocolate sauce that freezes when it touches the banana. It was a hit.

do a loveley big fresh fruit platter....all cut up small and arranged in circles.....like a circle of strawberries and then inside that a circle of banana slices...then kiwi....also, jelly's you can but them without additives, do them in fun moulds. Sticks of carrots etc and a simple range of dips....tiny sandwiches with the crusts cut off....

Anything that is soft or that will become soft in their mouth (pretzels, animal crackers, gold fish, etc). It makes it harder for them to choke. Fruit is a good idea too just not grapes. Bananas or apples are a good idea.
