I just saw this as a response to another question, from a certain member of this board:
"The Bible says, "The fool says in his heart there is no God" and as you can see there are a lot of fools who post on this site. And I respect their right to do so."
Now, I understand that the BIBLE calls us fools - but does that give the Christian the right to call us fools? Furthermore, is it truly respectful to call us "fools"?
I respect the rights of Christians to post on this site as well - but I can respect their rights without having to resort to calling them names either... What's with these kinds of personal attacks?
Oh yeah.... ARRRGGGGHHHHHH!!!! Shiver me timbers!

Primoa - please note the use of quotation marks around those words, as well as the preceding sentence, in which I explain that this was a posting from ANOTHER poster. So, to answer your question, no, I am not a fool. Perhaps it is you that isnt getting it?

The Bible also say that all of nature knows there is a God. Romans 1:20. ...and as a Christian , I'd be the last person on earth to call anyone a fool.

Primero babe you misread.
And the fact is that Christianity, at least in America is based around the Bible. I know that Christians think this is Gods's word but here's the deal guys.
If you choose to qoute a book that holds ill will toward everyone who refuses to think or believe like it does, don't be surprised when you piss people off. That is reality. Take it or leave. You all cry and moan because "no body likes you" but you still refuse to leave people alone. We are not blind, deaf, or dumb. We know who Jesus is. We know all about him. Good goddess how can you not when you all insist be every freaking where. Now give us some intellectual credit and just stop. I promise you, if you stop, we will too.

You can not love what you belive is wrong. "out of love for the sinner" is a lie. unless you are saying sins are just fine and dandy...then you have to say drawing pictures of god and making fun of jesus and worshiping satan are ALSO fine and dandy.
I would like to raise the question that does being a non believer MAKE you a fool? A fool is a person who perscribes to ideas that do not pan out, and generaly pan out the opposite way the fool intends.
ex. Primora.... or whatever his name is. Sticks his foot in his mouth becuse he perscrbes to the idea that athiests must hate christians and as such Soc. HAD to have called christians fools at some point in his argument.
He intends to call out a "GROSS INJUSTICE AND HYPOCRISY" (not actual quote. provided by writters liscence. in other words im not saying thats what anyone said)
and instead everyone that looks at this topic see's how weak and stupid he is.
So if being a non beliver makes you a fool being a beliver must make you wise.. however I just disproved that so it can not be true. Would anyone disagree that our friend whats his face was being a fool?
"Talk sense or be silent", -Havamal 19:2
"Wise is he not who is never silent,
Mouthing meaningless words:
A glib tongue that goes on chattering
Sings to its own harm." -Havamal 29
"The generous and bold have the best lives,
Are seldom beset by cares,
But the base man sees bogies everywhere
And the miser pines for presents. " Havamal 48
and for good measure
"A kind word need not cost much,
The price of praise can be cheap:
With half a loaf and an empty cup
I found myself a friend." -Havamal 52
http://home.earthlink.net/~wodensharrow/havamal.html
If any one wants to know why Im Asatru.... Havamal is the only answer neccesary. Its wounderous, it has good advice for about everything. and it moves me how i have always been told church... the bible.... you name it.... is supposed to move a person.
in short answer and summation (my answer is in the quotes) This guy is trash. all he wants is to battle the imagainary boogie man that dosent exist and his tongue betrays him as the maggot he is.
and Primoa's tongue betrays him as well.

Notice that the believers who quote that verse can't point to anything that nonbelievers are foolish about?
It's just childish name-calling, and of course it's a violation of the Community Standards. They quote that verse because they're wrong, and haven't any real argument to make.
===============
Primoa, you're reading his statement incorrectly. He did not call Christians "fools", and in fact he did not really call anyone a fool. Instead, he pointed out that there are a lot of us here who do not believe in gods, and are therefore labeled "fools" by the Christians who post that verse.
You should have read more carefully before attacking him, as once again, you were in the wrong.

To me, it is not right to call people names. For that reason, I don't practice religion because all the so called Christian people that I've ever met think that they are the only ones that are "right with God."

Of course it's not respectful. They think it more important to save your soul whether you want them to or not. It's a generic term meaning, everyone except believers. Believers are righteous, nonbelievers aren't. For all the sophistication that's what it generally boils down to.
As for rights; they're under no obligation either way, nor are you to care.

Psalm 10:4: “The wicked one according to his superciliousness makes no search; All his ideas are: “There is no God.”
Psalm 10:11: “He has said in his heart: “God has forgotten. He has concealed his face. He will certainly never see [it].”
Before we go in-depth in this verse; to be supercilious means to be patronizingly haughty, proud. Supercilious comes from the Latin word “supercilium” meaning eyebrow, haughtiness. What is the significance of this scripture?
Those who say that there is no God apply it to all the suffering that takes place on the earth today and the fact that God does not intervene in some way, shape or fashion. Let’s take this verse a bit deeper.
Is the way in which our bodies function, without human control or direction, not an indication that God still sustains our life processes? We still benefit from the wonderfully complex healing process that soon repairs damage if we should cut ourselves. And what about the marvelous process that transforms the many kinds of foods we eat into flesh, bones, hair, nails and other building materials? Do these processes, which continue to function for our benefit, really indicate that God has forgotten man?
Examine further: Consider how we enjoy the exquisite beauty that has been provided on earth—the glorious sunsets, snowcapped mountains, sandy beaches, green valleys, rushing rivers and colorful, fragrant flowers. Observe, too, how tiny seeds grow to produce the amazing varieties of delicious foods. Is God not still maintaining the laws that make possible sunsets and pounding surf, food-making processes of plants? And would you not say that all of this is evidence that God remembers man?
What about all the human suffering that has taken place in the world? Has God, in effect, forgotten about us?
Yet human suffering has been so prevalent that even a righteous man was once moved to ask: “Has God forgotten to be favorable?” This man, however, rather than jumping to a conclusion, made a careful search, which led him to exclaim: “O God, your way is in the holy place. . . . You are the true God, doing marvelously. . . . You have led your people just like a flock.”—Ps. 77:9-14, 20.
But in the face of all the wickedness and human suffering on earth, some persons may wonder how anyone could reach such a conclusion. ‘How could a good God who is Almighty allow this suffering?’ they ask.
Think about that for a moment. If God really has irresponsibly abandoned his earthly children, he is no longer good, is he? Yet it is obvious, as we have seen, that God has done and continues to do tremendous good for man! So, does this not indicate that God has very good reasons for temporarily permitting human suffering?
What are God’s reasons for permitting suffering?
First, we need to identify how human troubles actually began. Was it due to some neglect or oversight on God’s part?
To the contrary, God’s Word shows that mankind’s troubles had their start due to the abandoning of God by the first human pair, Adam and Eve. Created as free moral agents, these two deliberately ignored God’s laws, being influenced to do so by the angelic rebel Satan. Thus a number of vital issues or questions were raised. These included:
Was man made with the ability successfully to govern his affairs independent of God? In short, does he really need God’s guidance and direction? And there was the related question of whether any of the offspring of the first couple would be obedient and loyal to their Creator.
So the issues were moral ones, involving the rightness of God’s way of ruling, and whether man’s success and happiness really depend upon submitting to God’s rule. The issues did not concern whether God had greater strength or power. And they were not just local issues, affecting only humans, but they are ones in which even the heavenly angels are interested.
God, of course, could have immediately destroyed Adam and Eve, as well as Satan. That would have wiped out all opposition to Him; it also would have put an end to the human family, of which you are a member. But it would not have really settled the issues.
For example, it would not have answered the question as to whether any of Adam and Eve’s offspring would choose to remain loyal to God’s rulership. Nor would it answer whether any of these offspring could remain faithful to God if subjected to tests by Satan. Wiping out opposition immediately, therefore, might have left doubts in the minds of onlookers as to whether there was any truth to the charges by Satan.
So since the issues are of such importance, challenging God’s way of ruling and affecting the confidence of his creatures in him, God decided that they should be settled once and for all.
What has been the outcome? Have Satan’s charges against God been upheld, or proved false?
Yes, it is haughty for one to think that there is no God. Hopefully, the content above shed some light on this issue.
Take Care,

To paraphrase Solomon's book of Ecclesiastes: "You can tell a fool by the way he walks down the street."
It is well known that you would prefer men not repeat what God has spoken. Speaking words of comfort and acceptance to your beliefs, words God did not say, is far preferable.
