My dog chews up his blankets and beds all the time. I need to find a very durable blanket that he can not chew up. If you know where I can get one, let me know .

My dog is not a puppy. He is 10yrs old and lives outside in a dog house. So I wanted him to be warmer. I would bring him in but he doesn't like it inside he freaks out. He was a rescue dog so who knows why he hates it inside.

I travel a lot and have discovered the best blankets in the world - Airline blankets! They're meant for high volume usage, are free and are disposable. Just take a flight and bring a backpack with extra room!

I know you feel he needs something soft to lay on but if he is tearing up all his blankets and bed, just let him sleep on the crate floor. It won't kill him. As he matures and settles down, you can try him with a bed or blanket again. The danger here is him eating some of the blanket or the bed and getting a blockage. A friends' dog died from tearing up a blanket and eating some of it. Some passed through to the intestines and the other part did not, where the two sections were still connected by threads, it basically 'sawed' an opening in the lining of the stomach/intestines and she died as they were trying to do surgery to save her.

The chewing stage does not last very long. Eventually your dog will outgrow it.

Having said that, I used crocheted baby blankets which the dog chewed and chewed for a while but her teeth simply went through the holes. She eventually stopped so that was the signal for me to use throw blankets, afghans for the car, travelling etc for her to lie on.

They are indestructible. Lol
