There are 6 seasons, and every season has 22 episodes. 'N' yes, I think at least Xena and Gabrielle have a relationship, maybe not "carnal" but more platonic, in fact they say many times they're soul mates, this means that they're love is determined not by sexual orientations but by something more deeper: a spirit's bond. [in fact there are some episodes in which Gabrielle's incarnation is in love with Xena that is incarnated in a man]. Xena and Gabrielle love is more evidently in the last season where the so called "subtext" becomes the main text of the show, and if you watch at it you can easily notice that. In any case the producers and the writers said that the relationship between Xena and Gabby is open to interpretations, and I think that this ambiguity makes the show more complex and fascinating.

There were 6 seasons, and I think 22 episodes, each. I saw a interview with Lucy Lawless, and she was commenting on the fact that she and "Gabrielle" would receive mail asking about a"relationship" between the two, so much that the writers would start adding things in as a sort of running joke. She said they got a kick out of it.

Just more liberal promotional stuff, all par for todays PC course. I quite liked the series, it was cheesy as hell but in a cool way. The teaming up of Xena and Gabrielle was obviously designed to empower lesbians and give them more exposure.

6 seasons, not counting the Herculies crossovers.

as for the relationship, it's obvious when they kiss at the end of the 5 season that there is something more.
