A Hard Earned Tax Dolllar question!! Not a loafer!!?

Can someone who has worked for 35 years of their life time and became disabled who gets SSdisablity can also claim Social Security at retirement age as well? Having 2 checks coming in?
One for disability and one for social security for retirement?
remembering this person has worked for 35 years!!!!!! paid lots of taxes over the years! any knowledge anyone on this?

You can collect social security disability, but not disability and social security. Now you can collect workman's comp disability and social security.

Nope, when you hit retirement age, you get social security only. It will probably be less than the disability.

When my mother who was on disability turned 65, the disability stopped and the lesser amount for social security began.

Social Security disability only goes up to retirement age, then they switch you over to retirement benefits. You don't get both at the same time.

You'd have to check the SDI rules, but I think disability only applies during your working years, not during your retirement years. Disability is meant to replace the wages lost due to your disability; Social Security is designed to help you save/invest money for your retirement. So I think it's one or the other.

No. You can opt for the higher of the two payouts.
