1/2 of 2/3 cups would be 1/3 cup. Why the recipe would word it as 1/2 of 2/3 cup is senseless.

For future reference think of the 2/3 cup as 1/3+1/3=2/3 so half is just 1/3.
Also for cutting any fraction down you can use the formula:1/2 of ( of equals times) 2/3 equals ..... times the two top parts of the fraction 1x2 is 2, over times the two bottom parts of the fraction 2x3=6 so your new fraction and answer is 2/6. Then you need to reduce it down since both parts are even numbers. Two will go into 2 once and two goes into 6 three times. So the answer is again 1 over 3, 1/3.
For tablespoons and teaspoons it works a little different as 1 tablespoon is the same as 3 teaspoons but for cutting your teaspoons down you can use the same formula as above. Good luck on your cooking project :)

It is 1/3. To get the answer you multiply 1/2 x 2/3 which gives you 2/6 which is 1/3.
