Ok, so my daughter had tubes put in her ears in March. She is 2 1/2. The first couple of times she had a bath I told her to be careful not to get the water in her ears. Now she freaks out at one little drop of water getting in her ears. Bathtime is a fight when it comes to washing her hair. I haven't found an easy way to rinse where she doesn't scream like it's hurting here. I've even tried to rinse with just a wash rag and she has a cow with that. When I was a kid I had this shower ring that went on my head and it probably stuck out about an inch or two all the way around my head and not just my forehead. This helped the water stay out of not only my eyes, but my ears also. I can't seem to find these any more at all. All I can find is visors to keep the water out of the eyes. Does anyone know where I can find something?

This may sound out there I know. My son hates getting water in his ears also. So i have him tip his head back and cover both ears with yoplet yogurt containers. I tell him to hold them tight so he can hear the ocean and then I quickly use a wash cloth to rinse with. The containers openings are small so it fits right around the ears and when he holds it tight to the ear no water gets in. Also he feels like he is helping out with the bath. You know as well as I do that they love to help out at this age. Good luck

I had the same problem when I was little. I would get water in my ears and then I would end up with Swimmers Ear. I always used ear plugs when I showered and washed my hair or went swimming to keep the water out. They worked pretty good and I didn't get as many ear infections

aww poor soul. Try those ear plugs that you use on planes ect, or failing that cotton wool to plug up ear, but dont pus to far down. try and make a game with her when washing her hair, make it more fun for her. Have you tried just showering her hair, by letting bending over the bath and washing her hair that way. This way the water will run forward into bath and away from her ears, also to proctect her eyes from the shamppo, get her pair of swimming goggles, she think this is great fun to. poor soul, i hope you get it resolved soon.

Silicon Earplugs for kids. They go over the ear canal, not in it. You can buy a dozen for only a couple dollars at drugstore or Grocery store.

Silly putty works, too, but I think it's too soft.

Oh, and rinse her head with a plastic watering can...like she's a flower! It makes it more fun/less scary.

First, you want to get a good pair of earplugs. Second, try a "magic hat". A friend of mine introduced me to this... you get a plastic shower cap and cut the top off, leaving only the elastic band to go over the ears. It works!

I've seen little hats at places like Wal-Mart that type store, my son hated even dipping his head into the water so we started to let him take showers,he just looks at the ceiling and we help him push the water back. Good Luck
