She has the song "I want my mullet back" by
Billy Ray Cyrus on her myspace and she's not even a lesbian..

I'm really concerned about her and this new eccentric behavior...

should I alarm her doctors and have her committed again?

I'd hope it's not our parents responsibility to care for her...I'm 24 and she's 28 BUT she has always been a "little" sister to me with all her craziness...

Geez..you're right. GLBT people can be so uptight.

Where's the sense of humor people?

I say call the men in the white coats and have them come with butterfly nets and freak her out. lol

A psychiatrist will not commit her no matter how bad the song is. And it's a good thing you're not in charge, or she'd spend the rest of her life in an institution.

You are overreacting and obsessive.

Now if she is a danger to herself or others, then she needs to be committed.

Perhaps you are leaving out some important details regarding her actions. She may be having a manic episode if she has lost touch with reality, but music is free speech.

It may be that she just likes the song. However watch her other behaviors and see if they have changed. If they have I would guess she is not taking her medications as prescribed. It would not hurt to get her back to her doctor maybe they need to adjust the meds. Thing is do you want to risk your family ties by having her committed when maybe it is just you reading things that are not really there. Sometimes fear of something makes you see things and it usually will lead down the wrong road. See if she is receptive of going back to the doctor with you here and ask him about the possibility her meds need to be adjusted. These will save alot of hard feelings.

Posting a song is not 'eccentric behavior' no matter what you think of the lyrics. Besides, you'd have no way of knowing your sister's sexual orientation unless she wanted you to know. Maybe try educating yourself a lot more on the illness, and try to be less judgmental. It's your parents responsibility to care for her anyway, and it's a doctor's judgment that determines need for commitment, not yours.

although i want my mullet back does seem like a bad song i don't think that it is reason to have her commited. actually i kinda like the song myself. however if she is going through a mania and is not sleeping and is overspending or is thinking that the tv is talking to her. then you may want to be concerned. if she is wanting to cause harm to herself or others then you do need to get her help asap. but if it is just the song she may just think its funny and i don't think that is reason enough. but you do know her better than anyone so you may need to make your own judgement call. i hope that this helps and she is lucky to have a sister who does love her and wants to look out for her like you. oh and she is probably perfectly capable of living on her own as long as her meds are taken. some very famous people are bipolar. read a brilliant madness by patty duke. or call me anna by patty duke. those are very good and informative books about bipolar disorder.

PLZ. listen to kckmellons...she answered your question. I am bipolar also. Is your sister taking her meds. Ask her! Are there any other symptoms...spending too much money, not sleeping, partying all night, promiscuity!! If all of this is in combination with "the song" lol..... then you may need to take her to her psychiatrist and he or she will determine that 4 you!!

Over a song? You must be joking. The girl is probably just trying out new music. Don't call anyone...you might want to check yourself out for paranoia and being obsessive over your sister and the music she listens to.

It sounds premature to talk to her doctors over just a change in her myspace page. Talk to her and see if she has other symptoms of mania or psychosis before you think about talking to her doctors about having her committed.

Good luck,

lord, calm down. one song means different things to different people, you can hardly call her eccentric because of one song.
