On the back side of this medival warrior on canvas painting frame, there are numbers noted L169-1974-B can anyone tell me anything about this painting. Before when I asked then mentioned the numbers I was told that It could be a reproduction because, originals do not have numbers on them, I am thinking maybe they thought I ment the numbers were on the front of the canvas when they were not. As I stated this painting is very large in size, with a medival warrior painted on it and a castle in the background, holding a sword in his right hand, a grey beard, a feather sticking out the back of his green colored hat, a red cloke on, green top and pants. The frame is made out of carved wood of some type, with gold inlet surrounded by red velvet.

Front of the canvas, back of the canvas, or back of the frame, "L169-1974-B" still sounds like something a publisher would put there, not an artist. Sorry you didn't like my other answer. I could write something you'd LIKE better, but it wouldn't be true.

It could be that 1974 is when it was made/issued, and "B" is possibly the first letter of Carlo's last name. Or a second state of the image. Or an inventory number of some kind (though why it would be put anywhere on the actual piece is mystifying). I know "possibly" isn't what you're looking for either, but since I don't know of any artists, past or present, who sign their paintings with only the name "Carlo", it's the best I can offer.

If you really believe this is a valuable original painting, call in an art appraiser and pay their fee. At least that person will be able to see the actual piece and know at a glance if it's real or not.

Hi! This is difficult without an image or style as a reference to work from. Carlo is a common name. And.. we don't know if it's a surname or first. Also, is it a modern rendition of the subject, an historical one (as in an illustrative manner) or perhaps, of the time? I've searched 'Carlo' as a surname (there are dozens with a few listed below) and not found anything... which doesn't mean that one of these artists (or someone unknown) didn't paint it.. I just cannot document it. Perhaps you can upload an image.. reproduction or original.. it would be nice to be able to help you identify it!

I'm so very sorry that you had to suffer the ills of this person. I do understand your situation, as like alot of others, I too suffered the same childhood fate, as did all of my siblings. It is a difficult emotional situation that is hard to process, especially as a child. Their is fear, anger, hate, guilt, frustration and distrust that has to be worked through. The biggest question to be answered is how someone that you are suppose to love and trust, can violate you and rob you of your happiness. I found that I could not answer these questions on my own, and sought professional counseling to help me work through this emotional baggage. Unfortunetly, I waited about 35 years too long before receiving counseling, but I am still grateful that I did ask for help, so please, do yourself a favor and "do" seek counseling from a professional who deals with these type of situations. I would suggest also, that as painful as it may be, I would make a written record of what happened and if you don't want to share it with family members at this point, put it in a safe place for now. I would assume, as with most abusers, that if this person did something to you, he also has other victims out there as well who may be going through an emotional roller coaster as well. It is time to take back your life and not allow this person to hold power over your emotions anymore. God bless you and please seek counseling. You deserve to start healing and to live a happy life.

It still sounds to me like a reproduction...originals would very rarely, if ever, have numbers on the front of the canvas unless it was part of the artwork itself.
