I would look into IFPA before making a decision. IFPA also has a written and hands on skills test as both ACE and ISSA requires. But the IFPA has a lot more tailored programs geared towards athletes and corporate trainers.

I would go with the ACE certification.

The ACE Personal Trainer Certification Curriculum is continually evaluated and updated to ensure that it includes the most current exercise science information and keeps today's fitness professionals ahead of the competition. Upon successful completion of the ACE Personal Trainer Certification Exam, you will have demonstrated your knowledge of exercise science, nutrition, fitness assessment, exercise programming, and instructional techniques.

The ACE Personal Trainer Certification Exam also includes a written simulation component, which consists of two real-life situational problems which assess a candidate's decision-making skills in designing, implementing and modifying an exercise program.

ACE is also accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA)
