I often leave my tv on Animal Planet and my cat will sit there for up to an hour sometime watching it. It's so funny sometimes she will see birds and try to catch them lol.

Once, I noticed my Dixie was sitting particularly still in front of the tv. She was watching Animal Cops get a kitten out of a drainpipe. She sat through the whole thing! It was amazing because usually my cats pay no mind to the tv.

It just depends on what's on. My kitty will usually ignore television and movies. BUT when there are dancers on (like Dancing with the Stars or So You Think You Can Dance), she's all over it. I cannot distract her even for a minute. She also likes to watch the Cosby Show for some strange reason. I'm warming her up to football, but nothing else really catches her attention.
lol

They have watched race cars, Cirque du Soliel, Dog Whisperer, National Geographic, Animal Planet and Football.
They get a glazed look in their eyes and pass out just like people do. A lot of TV programming puts all of us to sleep. C. :)!!

Cats are very curious creatures. My cat is often entertained at watching my kids play in the play room. I have never seen them watching the television yet. tho. I will keep an eye out tho. :-)

My cat does that to. On my tv we have a screen saver that looks like a fish bowl. Everytime a fish goes by on the screen they try to catch it. They are so funny.

absolutely normal behaviour, most small animals are attracted to movement and tv is the most natural focus point for them indoors because unlike humans who appear huge to a small animal a tv produces an image on a scale they can relate to,i have known a cat who sat in front of a tv waiting for it to be turned on,very amusing...

Yes.

My 6-month old cat Troy likes to attack the television while she watches it.

In fact during the Monday Night Football games between the Redskins and the Eagles, she tried to swipe at the players on the field. I believe my fiancee encouraged her to do so because we're Dallas Cowboys fans (can't tell be her name, huh?). :)

My kittens LOVE to watch Meerkat Manor. They also have a DVD with birds, bugs, fish, etc. that I put on when I need them to behave and stay out of the way for a little while.

YEah....my cat does that too. She likes when I hold her so she can watch TV and waive her tail. Yesterday....she was laying on the floor and watching. Oh and she also loves to "hunt" for the Aqua-Marine screen saver fish.

He LOVES it! Mostly nature shows, and a video called "Video Catnip".

I have a friend (with an indoor-only cat in NYC) whose cat begs at the television for "Video Catnip". It's too cute!
