If someone sends me a word document i can print it with no problems. However, if I am the creator of the document, I have to hit the manual print button on my printer for every page. This only happens in Microsoft Word documents that I create. Does anyone know how to fix this?

I am using Word 2002. I'm not an expert with programs but I know a little more than the average user. I've checked every setting I could think of-both in word and on my printer.

it looks like the default setting when i open a new document is the manual feed. is there a way to change that setting so that I don't have to go to page setup everytime i create a document? this didn't happen until i got a new printer.

Open word,
click file,
click page set up,
click paper.
Does the size match the printer. By default it will be size letter, if your printer has A4 then it will stop waiting for you to ok the job. Change size to match printer and your problems should be solved. Other peoples word docs presumably specify paper size to match your printer.

Try this: Go to Start > Control Panel > Printers & Faxes now right click on your printer > Properties > Device Settings - now highlight Auto Select - press OK

I can't find any default option for this under either Tools->Options or File->Print->Properties/Options. Given that it started when you installed a new printer, I'd poke around in the printer's documentation and its entry on your machine for possible settings.

What version of Word are you using? I don't see anything in the options for Word 2003 that would help this. Have you opened Word's help menu?
