Wisconsin and Vermont a close second. Cabot creamery in Vermont is narrowing the gap and may have the best cheddar.

Way to subjective of a question. Best is a matter of personal taste. IF you mean what state is known for it's cheese the answer would be Wisconsin.

I disagree with all of you.. I live in Michigan and will travel a hundred miles for some sharp Pinconning cheese, right here from Pinconning Michigan! The cheese curds are most definitely the best in the world as well!!... so, I say Michigan!
