I know that a regular bowel movement should occur ever day, or at least every other day, but I go about once a week, and by the time I go, I have the worst stomach ache but it is still hard to go..?? What's going on?? And is there anything I can take?

You need more fiber. If I were you I would go and get some Metamucil (the kind you put in your drink) or any other fiber supplement and take it at night before bed. Then make sure you are drinking lots of water and getting more fiber during the day, EVERY DAY!! Your body needs the fiber to eliminate the food that is accumulating in your body!

Keep taking the fiber supplement at night and getting lots of fiber during the day. Nuts, raisins, fresh vegetables, wheat germ, oatmeal and foods like that. You should be fine in no time!~

It's call chronic constipation, and there are two things you can do. First you need to drink at least 2 liters of water a day, without the water, your stool is hard and difficult to pass. Second, you can increase the fiber in your diet, fresh fruits are best, vegetables and salads are good too. But without the water, you will have to resort to laxatives and that is not good, the bowel becomes dependant on them and eventually even they don't work. To assist the water in getting to your bowel you can also take a stool softener like docusate sodium, available over the counter in any drug store.

You need to increase your fiber intake. Get some metamucil or citrucel etc to use twice daily. Also sit on the toilet EVERY morning after you eat breakfast to try to get your bowels in a normal routine. If the increased fiber doesn't work then talk to your doctor about this and see what he recommends. Use the fiber product at least twice a day and give it a couple of weeks to "kick in" so to speak. Also drink lots of prune juice or eat prunes and be sure you eat lots of fresh fruits and veggies every day and drink extra water.

Try eating 10 to 20 oranges, 20 to 30 mandarins or 40 to 50 prunes a day for a few days.

You need at least 20 grams of fibre in your diet and at least 8 glasses of water or some other fluid to keep your bowels moving regularly. High fibre bran cereals and fruit, veggies and whole grain products could be missing from your diet. Too much protein (meat, eggs, cheese) are constipating.

You're not eating enough fruit and green vegetables. And you're not drinking enough water. Once a week is not acceptable, for bowel movements. If you keep it up, you're going to kill yourself.
