My son is 4 and will turn five in November. He missed the cutoff date for school so now I need a good preschool for him to go to.We make too much money for him to go to pre-k.The thing is that he is super smart and needs to be learning and not just playing all the time.Believe me,I am not just being partial and I really need help with this!We live in Hawkins,Texas. If anyone has an answer for me I would appreciate it.

For everyones information...I do not mean that I want my son to sit at a desk all day and not be able to be a kid.I only want him to have a little bit of structure and not continuous play.To those of you who have doubts about my intentions you obviously do not have a child like mine. From the mouth of my son:Mom,I had fun but they did not teach me anything! He starves for information and knowledge. Thanks for all the input!

In my area there are no income limits on Pre-K, only on Head Start. Are you sure it was Pre-K you looked into? Check with your local elementary school, social service agencies, and churches to see if there is a program which might help you.

Kids learn with play! They don't sit at desk all day. I think what you mean is you want a school that prepares them for school. Most schools do this, but if you want something more check your local phone book under preschools and call around. I would try to put him in a older class if he is more advanced. Good luck.

F.Y.I. (for your information) there is like NO preschool where u do work all the time !!!! and your not always playing your also learning how to write, sing different songs and draw things!!! and i think your son would also like to play rather than work all the time, even though he's smart!!!

who cares if he plays all the time HE'S 4 turning 5

he may as well play while he still has lots of time!!!!

Look for a Montessori school in your area. They have a very structured curriculum, even for the preschoolers. I'd have put my son in there if I could have afforded it.

Good luck!
