i'm using microsoft word 2003 version, i know how to use it and everything...BUT for some reason i managed to do something stupid and have the little backwards "P" on every line and it doesn't let me copy anything and paste it to it microsoft without making it look weird. instead of still having the same paragraph form a website has, it puts a dot between every line and then has the backwards p everytime i click enter to move down...how do i get this off?!

Many people are uncomfortable with paragraph marks visible on the page (the technical name for the character is the pilcrow, by the way), but they won't print or affect your output in any way.

If you can get used to them, they can be very useful, for instance in knowing exactly where a paragraph really ends. Much of Word's paragraph formatting (indentation, line spacing, ...) is attached to the paragraph mark, so knowing exactly which one you just deleted can explain some very mysterious and usually unintended format changes.

But if you still want to get rid of them, the simplest way is this:

1. Click the Tools->Options menu item.
2. Click the View tab.
3. In the Formatting Marks section, deselect Paragraph Marks.
4. Click OK.

That will do it.

You've toggle the "reveal codes" button - It should be on the standard tool bar and has a tooltip of "Show/Hide".

It's supposed to help with viewing, otherwise invisible, whitespaces and line feed characters

if its a p with a double line? that sounds like its displaying line breaks etc...

you just need to change how your viewing the document, in one of the menu's at the top..

i use open office, so not 100% sure of the menu's..

it's probably under "view" or something.. or if theres icons see if any of them are clicked down, one of them is probably enabled to show line breaks etc.
