Hi all

I was wondering if anyone else brings over watches or any other luxury items likes handbags to the UK from the US. The reason I ask is because there are silly Tax laws in the UK and you really do get stung when you bring stuff over. Is it easier to send it via the mail? Or do you just go through customs? let me know, especially if you have been stopped or you do it regularly or you regularly mail items of high value from the US to the UK.

Just quickly glancing at the customs and revenue website, you guys get screwed! I thought the allowances here in the US were low!
Anyway, if it's an expensive watch you bought for yourself, why not just wear it and not declare it? Same thing with the bag. As far as shipping it back goes, you have to weigh the cost of the shipping and insurance versus going straight through customs. I know if we ship things back they have to go though customs anyway so you may or may not have to pay a duty depending on value, etc.

Somehow big brother usually gets more than his share.

good luck!!
