It clearly says the MAN is the head of the WOMAN and even compares it to Christ being the head of the church! How can you just ignore this verse???

Ephesians 5:22 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.

Ephesians 5:23 For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.

If a man is giving 100% into the marriage then its easy for the woman to submit and love him back with 100%. The greater command is on the man, He is to Love his wife as Christ loved the church.

The Bible commands us to submit to our HUSBANDS. Never does it say that a woman must submit to just any man. The alternative is to not have a husband.

God held Adam responsible for bringing sin and death into the world -- not Eve (Romans 5:12). Adam was the one who heard God's command not to eat from the tree, yet he stood by and watched her eat without doing anything. Talk about shirking your responsibilities!

The Bible doesn't teach that men are any better than women -- in fact, it teaches us that we are all the same to God (Galatians 3:28). But what it does teach is that we have different roles. A woman who is married has a different role than an unmarried woman; and a married woman has a different role than her husband. It all has to do with responsibility.

What do you think "submit" means? That might give you an answer as to why people have a problem with these verses.

What if the husband is abusive? Should the wife just take it because she has to submit to her husband? What if the husband makes poor financial decisions? Should the wife allow her husband to ruin their credit because she has to submit to him?

I suppose you don't allow women to be pastors (priests, ministers, etc) in your church either. Go ahead, follow that mysogynistic, anti-Torah, self proclaimed Apostle. He also goes against Jesus who never claimed that wives should submit to their husbands. If it's such an important concept, why didn't Jesus talk about it?

Church leaders accepted Paul's words as Scripture because it gave them power over women. Paul never intended his words to be canonized. When he said "all Scripture is God breathed" in 2 Timothy, he was referring to the Old Testament. That was the ONLY scripture back then. The gospels weren't even written down yet.

You need to get your bible back out, flip to the back and look up submit. Then read all the passages that apply to that term. When you have done that, then repost and tell us what you learned.

Plus, re-read what you have already posted. It says HUSBANDS not men. HUSBANDS are also supposed to love their wives as Christ loves the church.

Actually, that's not what it says. Rather, it says that *wives* should submit to their *husbands*. I'm sure you will agree, this is quite a different thing.

As you are probably aware, those who do not obey the instructions of the bible (cafeteria Christians, who choose to believe only what they want to believe) are lacking in faith, and we should pray for them.

Also, don't forget - in a looking-for-a-fight kind of topic like this, that husbands are to love their wives as Jesus loves the church (so much that he gave his life for it). In other words, wives have only to submit. Husbands must love their wives more than themselves - and I think that's more difficult than the submission thing (judging by the hen-pecked husbands I know).

You're forgetting the part that says husbands should love their wives as Christ loves his church. We're to submit to one another as Christ did for us.

By both husband and wife submitting to each other, both people's needs are met.

Yes well the husband is also supposed to lay down his life for his wife. Which means he is supposed to love his wife the same way Jesus loved the church. I don't see many men treating their wives that way. Submitting to a man that loves a woman enough to die for her is easy. Submitting to a man that lords it over you is hard and if he does not hold up his end of the bargain why does it fall onto the woman to hold up her end?

I don't ignore the bible. However, I also do not take a single text and make doctrine. That is not biblical. We are to add scripture to scripture, precept to precept, here a little and there a little to come to a complete understanding of the truth. Add this text to the ones you have quoted and see where it takes you...

Galatians 3:38
There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free man, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.

Because I follow the teachings of Christ who included women in very active roles in his ministry and not the teachings of Paul who seemed to have a difficult time leaving his role as an old testament scholar behind.

Don't eat any pork, either. Or scallops or shrimp. Don't ever wear mixed fabrics. It is a sin. The women having the womens curse must be locked outside the gates of the city. Where are the gates of your city out side of which they shall be locked? You better find out fast!
