I doubt you're correct.

Iran will dig in within its own territory and probably wait for us to come after them. They don't have the means or the numbers to engage us head on conventionally. If they tried to come at us using modern war tactics, they'd get outright slaughtered. Most likely they'd hide in cities amongst civilians; the human shield tactic has worked quite successfully as a propaganda tool to recruit more against the US.

In the event of conflict with Iran, all US troops in Iraq would re-deploy to the Iranian border. I bet the operation in Iraq would be declared over, and all US military assets would engage Iran.

Somewhat agree - many more troops will die and the US will send in more troops. But ... I think Iraq would be quickly abandoned and used only as a staging point for attacks on Iran. The deaths will be in Iran, not Iraq if this happens.

I don't think Iran would attack, though. I could see a Rep. Prez attacking Iran to find WMD or to stop their nuclear program.

The Mehdi Army allied with Iran will surely cause a lot of trouble but will not be able to sustain a conventional battle. The Iranian military, strong as it is, risks losing all their best units and equipment in a matter of days if they go to the offensive. They will easily be detected through spy satellites & other high tech surveillance. I doubt if they may even threaten Basra. The Iranians will be tougher if they'll be on the defensive from the start although the result will be the same. The chance of war is small, however. There are a lot of Iranians immigrants in the U. S. which will make the American governent extra careful before deciding to go to war.

First off, a ground attack by Iran into Iraq is such a remote possibility it is laughable. We would see their troops massing on the border and the ensuing massacre of their troops by the United States Air Force would make Desert Storm I look like a cake walk. In such an event very few of our troops would die, but the wholesale slaughter of Iranian troops could very well bring bout the down fall of the Iranian government.

You assume too many things. Give our military planners a little more credit. We will not invade Iran from Iraq if it does come, which I doubt.Further, you give Iran's military a status it has failed to earn. In my opinion, If a war does come with Iran, it will be a UN war.

This is why its a Civilians responsibility to choose his or her nations wars.

Well this question already has the answer in it which happens to be agree. Reason is that any attack will cause our troops as well as others to die regardless of who is battling who cince you are stating that there is an evident attack.

there will be no speedy withdrawal no count number what. the difficulty is making waiting the Iraqi protection tension and police to take over. The Iraqi solders (even even though it replaced into on CNN) have been expressing a decision for the Democrats to win the election, besides the undeniable fact that their reason replaced into many times some thing like:"we've seen what the Republicans can do and now we would decide to work out what the Democrats can do". My own opinion is that the Iraqis choose the U.S. to make a tender go out, yet they choose us to do it with out lot of strings linked. In different words. they're grateful that we've been given rid of Saddam, yet now they choose their u . s . a . back. they have been dragging their ft approximately status on their own till Bush is long previous because of the fact they comprehend that they are going to get greater autonomy from an American government that would not would desire to justify the conflict by employing "gaining bases or treaties, or greater importantly administration over Iraq".
