We have children and would like to join a church but have never attempted to compromise a religion. I don't know much about Methodist, but have heard it would be the best cross between the two. Any suggestions? I don't know much about the religion, so any info would be great!

If you're willing to compromise your beliefs to make your husband happy, then you don't really believe your beliefs, do you?

I don't see how either one of you would be happy in a most Methodist churches that I have visited. As the old saying goes, "A good compromise leaves everyone disappointed."

I think the best thing that the two of you can do is to take a class TOGETHER on Catholicism (it's called RCIA and it's free) and also take a class together on the Baptist faith (not sure what would be offered, but since you're Baptist, you surely know better than I do).

Once you are fully knowledgeable about both your faith traditions, you can determine together where your family ought to be.

And just so you know, there are much fewer differences between the Baptist and Catholic faiths than you may think. When I was a fundamentalist, I was taught many false things about Catholicism and I was realize surprised when I found out the truth.

If the inner meaning of religion is important for you, I'm afraid compromises have to be done within one of the two main groups of Christian denominations - either the classical, traditional Christian churches (including Roman Catholic, Eastern Orthodox and Oriental Churches) OR reformed, protestant churches (including Baptist, Pentecostal, Lutheran, Methodist, Anglican and around 50.000 other kinds ...).

As stated above, if you just look for a superficial likeness (like how the worship is carried out), maybe you could find the Anglican, Lutheran or Methodist churches some kind of middle-of-the-road.

Otherwise, I would say, if no one of you want to change to the other one's church - better both stay in your own church with an open mind, visit each other's church regularly if you want, and either let your children everyone belong to the same church or part them half-half (well, I don't mean cut them in half, but in two groups ...), and later of course let them choose for themselves.

I know many married couples who belong to different churches (one Roman Catholic, one protestant) who had no major problem with keeping belonging to different churches, although several of them later found one of the churches (usually the Catholic Church, actually) more appealing for everyone. But don't hurry with a denominational change!

You should have dealt with this BEFORE you got married.

As many couples do, you have found that faith becomes more important to you once you have children.

If you were married in the Catholic Church ( which you should have been or your marriage is invalid) you as the Catholic promised to raise your children as Catholics.

If you don't honor that, what does it say about your commitment to marriage in general?

You should come home to the Catholic church. Start by making an appointment with a priest and explaining your situation- believe me, he's heard it before. Father and I have several of these appointments each week where we sit down with a mixed marriage couple and discuss their fellings about the church.

This is because 95% of the time, the Catholic can't explain to their spouse what the Church believes and teaches.

You can't compromise on faith. Either your faith means something to you or it doesn't.

If you really are a Catholic, then you will only be happy with the Catholic Church. I experimented with other denominations, but nothing compares to living a sacramental life in the Catholic Church.

LOL. Why don't u read the bible and find the answer there?

I don't think Jesus was a Baptist or a Catholic or a Methodist since these man made religions did not exist at the time.

i myself desire that what befell interior the final election, that maximum Christians subsidized Bush, won't repeat itself. i ask your self how those Christians experience now that Bush has shown himself to be cheating and unethical. Has no longer this shown that balloting because of the fact the candidate belongs to a particular faith, creates severe issues. If the subsequent President isn't elected for the reason that he/she is truthful, ethical, non-biased, non-racist, non prejudicial then u.s. is in for concern. u.s. have lost the honour of thousands and thousands because of the fact of Bush and his dishonesty and it is going to take somebody with integrity, capability, and all the factors suggested above, to hold American back to the capability it had earlier Bush grew to become President. President Bush is an occasion of balloting for the religion, over the guy, easily does no longer paintings. It did no longer paintings final time and it unquestionably won't paintings back. unquestionably the instructions found out by the dishonesty of this government, will function a reminder that this time, it must be accomplished perfect.

If you expect worship to have elaborate rituals, probably Lutheran or Anglican (Episcopalian) will be a good compromise. However, many Episcopalian and some Lutheran churches are quite liberal. You will have to shop around.

Methodist is a good middle ground. It'll feel somewhat familiar to both of you.
