It's too inconvenient for fundamentalists. Their favorite sport is bullying people into God's arms.

Or maybe it's ultimately just too complicated for them to understand....

Christians do practice Luke 6:37, in obedience to God. If you are thinking that we judge you, we don't because we can't. What you are feeling is judgement, is that we are only telling people what God says in His written Word, the Bible. God sets the rules, not us. God warns all of us but, He says that the judgement is yet to come.

Don'tbother with quoting scripture, most of the people doing the condemning don't care whether it's against the Bible or not, they just HAVE to be right.

Matthew 7:1 says almost exactly the same thing... Yet in this part, "Do not judge..." I believe it means judging someone eternally...

Because in both passages, it speaks of the fruits of person's work. Matthew 7:15 "Beware of false prophets who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles? Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Therefore by their fruits you will know them."

God tells us to beware of false teachers and uses the example of fruit trees. How do we know them? By the fruits of their labors! So we are to judge their fruits. I thought He told us not to judge? Judge or not to Judge?

This is where discernment comes in. Perfect example, a certain former public official was involved in a case of perjury which involved sexual inpropriety with an intern. One of spiritual advisers was performing involved in a sex scandel of his own which produced a child. He used ministerial funds to provide housing and such to keep the mother quiet.

Should the public official have listened to the minister who in turn was committing the same offense? If the public official had inspected the fruits of the minister, he'd have known he should have told the truth about the situation.

If the public official had said, "Yes, I did have inappropriate sexual relationship with that woman" during the sealed testimony part of the investigation. He probably would have saved his legacy from being only about his involvement with an intern. His wife wouldn't have had to lie about it and soil her name.

I believe it means that we are not to judge eternally. Rather we are to judge a person by their actions if we are not to be taken in by their sins and become an accomplice.

Nothing written in Mt, Mk, Lk or Jn, or any of your bible except for Romans thru Philemon is for YOU to be practicing today! Those portions were written specifically TO and ABOUT Judaism and the practice of the law of Moses.

Under today's instruction, we are told to "forgive one another as God in Christ HAS FORGIVEN YOU."

Christians are also TOLD to judge with righteous judgement, which means to make assessments according to what God has said in His Word. We are also told that it is Gods Word that condemns when they dont believe the good news of the gospel that saves.

So...you see, there seem to be many things you dont understand about what instructions are written TO and ABOUT YOU IN THIS present dispensation of GRACE.

We dont apply instructions given to another audience at another time to we who are under GRACE today.

Judaism is NOT Christianity and God expects you to KNOW the difference.

my opinion on why so many use this verse is cause the truth HURTS! judging and correcting is two different things. judging and speaking truth from seeing someones actions are to different things. what bout this scripture?
1 Corinthians 5:12,13
for what have i to do with judging those also who are outside? DO YOU NOT JUDGE THOSE WHO ARE INSIDE? 13) but those who are outside God judges. therefore put away from yourselves the evil person.

you do not understand the context

if you read the rest of the chapter you will see this:

this applies to people with the same sin criticizing others with the sin...for example...a thief should not criticize another person for being a thief...because this is hypocrisy

we are allowed to evaluate behavior as good or bad....because we have to make the decision whether or not to associate with people who could adversely affect us.

we are not allowed to assign private motives behind the behavior ..just God does that.

forgiveness: example: we can forgive someone for stealing from us...but that does not obligate us to associate with them...because they might steal from us again...we are also still entitled to get back what they stole...this is called restitution.

You must keep in mind the difference between "judging" and "refuting".

"All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:" 2 Timothy 3:16

Please note the words "reproof" and "correction".

Providing you are using scripture, it is not judging when you answer a question for someone.

People just don't understand that God will judge the sinners of the world. It's not OUR job to judge them. We are only to judge those who proclaim a life of Godliness yet carry out a different lifestyle, those we CAN judge and it's our responsibility to judge them. Read 1 and 2 Corinthians.
