This is a very odd thing and I look forward to what science has to say.

If it in fact is a meteor then that would mean the bible very accurately it telling us of a prophecy coming to pass.

I won't make a decision until I know more

Wormwood falls during the Tribulation. We are not in the Tribulation, so it's a coincidence.

EDIT: To Ueapirate: Chernobyl does NOT mean "worm wood," it means "black grass or black stalks." And it's "Revelation" (singular).

I heard about this meteor also. It is not predicted in Revelation though. ALL of Revelation is figurative.

8:11 And the name of the star is called Wormwood: and the third part of the waters from the rivers and the fountains became wormwood; and many men died of the waters, because they were made bitter.

And what it means:

This attitude of superiority and wisdom is common among those who teach the word of God (religious and spiritual leaders), or the wisdom of the world (secular teachers). These are “the rivers” and the “fountains of waters” from which the people quench their thirst for knowledge. John describes these fountains of knowledge as being corrupted by their pride, and using their supposed education and knowledge to obtain personal gain, both monetarily, and with titles, honors, and worldly glory. All these he appropriately names “Wormwood.”

Anyone who listens to the doctrines and precepts given by the leaders and teachers of the world will be led down a path of destruction as to things of the spirit. The prophets of old express very eloquently what John meant:

See these scriptures: Proverbs 5:1–14, Jeremiah 9:13–17, Jeremiah 23:13–17, and Amos 5:6–8.

You can learn what all of Revelation means from the book that blew me away. It tells it all. The best part is, it's free from the site below:

The 3rd trumpet will sound in the year 2240 AD, a meteor will stike the ocean causing the rains to become contaminated, it will send up a cloud that blocks out 1/3 of the sun, moon, and stars. But before this the 2nd trumpet will sound and a major volcano will erupt into the ocean, causing the oxygen in the ocean to deplete killing 1/3 of all the creatures in the ocean, this will begin to happen in the year 2100 AD

The 7 kings and the 10 kings of Rev 17:9-18 is the same story told in Rev 8:7. The 1st trumpet sounded 1960 AD. From 1960 AD Kennedy was the first President and George W. Bush is the 9th (king), therefore the next president of the U.S. shall fall to Gog (Asia) and Magog (Russia)

When looking at this you have to realise that "wormwood" can be translated in many ways dependant on the language used.

For example - The Russian translation of "wormwood" is ironically "Chernobyl", so according to Revelations this has already happened in the 80's and we're all still here.

There are other examples of things raised in the book of Revalations which are part of everyday life such as the bar code that is on every piece of consumer goods, and if the line... "no man shall be able to buy or sell without the mark" is true then we're already on the way to the end of the world...

The book of Revalations is the final part of the bible and has become the church's attempt to make all christians live in fear, as opposed to the message of love preached by Jesus himself, the church needed to control the masses, and what better way than through fear. As Bill Hicks stated - "The eyes of fear want you to put bigger locks on your doors, buy guns, close yourself off, whereas the eyes of love instead see all of us as one"

That's the message the church should be giving people, and maybe it would not be losing members the world over...

I know the verse, but, frankly, I don't think it's Wormwood yet. But, it certainly is chilling, and maybe it's a picture of things to come. There are so many tsunamis, and earthquakes, and other bad weather conditions all over the planet. More than there has ever been. These are the BIRTH PANGS. Keep watch and pray!!!! God Bless

When the clergy of Christendom apostatized from true Christianity, they fell from the lofty “heavenly” position described by Paul at Ephesians 2:6, 7. Instead of offering fresh waters of truth, they served up “wormwood,” bitter lies such as hellfire, purgatory, the Trinity, and predestination; also, they led the nations into war, failing to build them up as moral servants of God. The result? Spiritual poisoning of those who believed the lies. Their case was similar to that of the unfaithful Israelites of Jeremiah’s day, to whom Jehovah said: “Here I am making them eat wormwood, and I will give them poisoned water to drink. For from the prophets of Jerusalem apostasy has gone forth to all the land.” Jeremiah 9:15; 23:15.

This fall from the spiritual heavens became apparent in the year 1919 when, rather than Christendom’s clergy, the small remnant of anointed Christians was appointed over the Kingdom interests. (Matthew 24:45-47) And from 1922 that fall was dramatized when this group of Christians renewed their campaign of frankly exposing the failings of the clergy of Christendom. Because of the preaching of Jehovah’s Witnesses, great numbers of people have come to realize that many doctrines taught by the clergy are spiritual poison—“wormwood.”

Interesting article, but I think that the "Wormwood star" would fall in a more heavily populated area.

I'm sorry, when did they name the meteor wormwood? And Peru is hardly "a third part of the waters". And has the nausea caused death of "many men" yet?

that is barely immoral from the Judao/Christian/Islamic attitude. Pharaohs immediately married close family individuals alongside with their mom or sister and had infants. incredibly, it is going to no longer be a central authority difficulty. in the event that they have been my associates, i might ward off them/ refuse to speak with them etc and no-one pays for the newborn's ailments different then themselves.
