I keep a phone list in excel. It also may be printed out via saved in wordperfect. I have never had any problems until now. When I go to open it a text import wizard coms up with delimited checked off. Basically, when viewing it in excel it is in some other format currently file origin selection is (windows ansi) I am not familiar with any of this so, any layman term advice would be helpful. I just want to be able to view and print my old phone list. Thanks!

Thats odd..

One thing I would recommend is a system restore. (I dont know all of what happened with your document so this is the first thing I would suggest). Click
Start-Programs-Accessories-System Tools-System Restore

Select the option to take the computer back to an earlier date. Highlight a day a few days ago in bold that has "System Checkpoint" in it. That should work.

If you need any help, let me know.

Excel thinks it is opening a text file or some odd file. If you still have Word Perfect, resave the file as an Excel file type in Word Perfect. Then you should be able to open it fine in Excel. Save it as a version of Excel 97 or later. Having the file saved in the Word Perfect format might especially give you problems if you just switched to Excel 2007.

Even if the delimited thing comes up you should be able to click the next button. In the next screen make sure that only tab is checked. Then try opening it by clicking finish. This may or may not work though.

The most important thing is to get it out of that Word Perfect format and into Excel format.
